One month ago, Los Angeles County and the rest of California celebrated a long-awaited reopening, marking the tremendous progress made in the battle against COVID-19 by lifting virtually all restrictions on businesses and other public spaces.
Now, the coronavirus is resurgent, and the nation's most-populous county is scrambling to beat back the latest charge of a pandemic.
Starting Saturday night, residents will again be required to wear masks in indoor public spaces, regardless of their vaccination status.
The latest order not only puts the county further at odds with both the California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — both of which continue to maintain that vaccinated people need not cover their faces indoors — but puts officials in the precarious position of asking the inoculated to forfeit one of the benefits recently enjoyed.
"This is an all-hands-on-deck moment," said Dr. Muntu Davis, the county's health officer.
We could be done with this by now, but half the country insists the vaccine is the mark of the beast or some other form of government control mechanism. It's going to get worse again before it gets better.
Like I have been saying on here when the CDC recommends indoor mask wearing again much of the country will go back to that. I think we are a couple weeks away on that. There are a lot of blue states that do not want to stick their neck out before the CDC says so. LA county is so blue they don't care.
Enjoy the past couple months. It might be a while until we are mask free again.

So what? That's their problem. I got both of my shots months ago and promptly tossed the stupid masks in the trash. I ain't going back.
We can thank Donald Trump. If he wouldn't have politicized the virus so much, there wouldn't be near the kind of the resistance to the vaccine we are seeing, especially among the evangelicals.

Trump could correct all that by doing PSA's and promote getting vaccinated. Look he is vaccinated. I would respect him a lot if he did that. But he does not want to turn off any voters or lose donation money. That is much more important that saving lives.
