They are developing a wide-range industrial scale production of submarines.
Airforce will be irrelevant.
Meanwhile America is dependent on foriegn suppliers for their manufacturing. Again, since 1985 Iran's naval power at hyper leaped by several folds while America's has stagnated.
Iran is a rather backward country. Don't they require women to walk around wearing tarps in public? I wouldn't worry about them modernizing anything, since their mindset is stuck so far in the past.
I was in Teheran this last month. Young woman don't follow the rules or wear it very loosely.
I remember the 1988 incident when a few Iranian vessels were hit, but don’t recall the “Iranian Navy being destroyed”….They had other vessels left (or am I wrong)?
The most serious threat by sea Iran is a tanker or cargo vessel carrying a couple medium range ballistic missiles getting within 20-25 miles of U.S. East coast and/or Gulf of Mexico and launching EMP attack. They tested this several years ago. Currently Pentagon rushing to develop effective EMP defense capabilities but presently this type of threat would likely be successful. NK is doing the same, Russia/China most certainly do.

In thirty years Iran will be at the top.
Given the Iranians main enemies are the Saudi's and Israel I am not sure what good a navy is going to be.
As for the Iranian Navy it's not going to be a major force, and Iran does not have the technology that big western arms companies have.
The best bet for the Iranians is to make peace with the west, and to go back to being a democratic state rather than ruled by a vile Islamic regime.
Hopefully, Israel will destroy the ISIS like regime and it's poor excuse of a Navy.

In spite of the inflammatory rhetoric, there's a very valid reason why neither will attack the other and why I have successfully refuted and debunked every such claim.
HaHaHa! Learn a bit about WWII and look at how weak our military was beforehand and how our Pacific fleet was decimated in Pearl Harbor. Then look ahead only a few years at how everything ended up. I, and many others have faith in the US of A if anything happens. Hell, people said we were falling apart in the 90's and look how the whole country came together after 9/11!
Iran! HaHa.
