85% of the males in prison grew up without a father. Treat the cause, don't react to a symptom.
A father who is a gangster is not much help, so that is one problem with this simple minded thinking. A father who is abusive and traumatic isn't helpful either.
Single mothers are not the reason for the high rate of crime, it's part of the puzzle, lack of a father figure can lead boys to seek the wrong kind, but there has to be a bad environment to go find that in too.
We broke a lot of treaties with the Native American Tribes.
As for African Americans...
Enslaving them, breaking up their families for generations, and all the myriad of negative things that happened to them even after the end of slavery have contributed greatly of the "destructive/pathological" culture we see in the the African American community.
Instead of taking that into consideration most conservatives just blame it on the Great Society and are outraged because they don't like to be blamed for the deeds of previous generations.
When white people will admit that Black culture are still affected by generations of mistreatment then I think it is fair to say that part of the problem is that Black people tend to be fixated on that and not on doing their part to address the problem.
But white people won't admit that. And of course that's part of the reason that Black people can't get past it.
When I "admit" that blacks living today are impacted by things that happened a century and a half ago, feel free to take away my driving privilege and put one of those bracelets on me that has my home address.
The real problem here is purposelessness and the fact that so many people are just fine living a life that doesn't really matter because it doesn't benefit anyone.
Maybe one day these oppressed individuals will wakeup and realize that while they have been waiting for the circumstances of their life to change, life has been waiting for them to change.
I know a wandering tribe from the middle east that has been shut out and discriminated against in almost every society they were a part of, but today they are, per capita, one of the most successful groups in the history of the United States. I could be wrong, but I think, even during their green years, they were pretty nonviolent. Oh I forgot, millions of them were exterminated in Europe in the '40s, too.
Yet after WWII they came out of all the chaos with the founding of a nation of their own that receives full support from Christian Western nations. They also were able to lead the banking, news media, hollywood, entertainment, pharmaceutical and pornography industries.
It blows my mind that people think humans would evolve identically over thousands of years in radically different climates / environments across the vast globe.
To me that is willful delusion or insanity.
