New Jersey checks in!

"The COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be more than 99.9% effective in New Jersey, with 84 hospitalizations and 31 having deaths out of the 4.4 million people in the state fully vaccinated by the end of June, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday."

"Vaccinations are 99.998% effective at preventing hospitalizations and 99.9993% effective at preventing deaths among for that population of fully vaccinated residents, Murphy said. “These numbers speak for themselves,” Murphy said. “I cannot repeat it enough. We do not have a pandemic among the vaccinated.”

Wow. A result very similar to Massachusetts.

Tearing down the wall of anti-vax disinformation one state at a time.

Which mirrors the average across the board. If delta is a mutated variant, its going to be even less lethal than Covid was. I'll assume that statistic about the vaccinated wasn't just mad eup, but it probably was like all the other statistics we're being given. But more vaccinated are getting the Delat variant than the non vaccinated. That has to be troubling.

This means that if India was fully vaccinated, millions of people would still be alive.

Yes, but they get you on cruise ships and make your election votes count twice.

Sorry, but that is NOT what those numbers say. It's not 99.998% effective at preventing anything. To have a measure of preventative efficacy, you have to compare the number VS the number that are not vaccinated to gain a sense of the actual efficacy rate is at preventing hospitalizations or deaths.

IOW, if un-vaxxed individuals had a 99.998% chance of not being hospitalized, then the efficacy of the vaccine is 0, it doesn't help because the vaxxed vs unvaxxed rates are exactly the same.

Before someone gets their britches in a twist, I'm not arguing the efficacy of being vaxxed, just arguing for _real_ stats and more accurate interpretation of the numbers.

Yes, get your shots but, please... these numbers are just stupid and meaningless.
