Germs! Yes, many in the whole wide world have understood that.
But we, including YOU SHOULD know more now. With this new mRNA vaccine technology, YOU and I know more, and can also benefit more.
This is called learning, advancing our education as we open our minds and learn about new things, new technologies and now new vaccines.
Please be a good student and don't try and unlearn this really important new stuff!
IMO these vaccines, and at the top of the new vaccines, the mRNA vaccines, are the greatest medical breakthroughs in a century. And will save more US lives in the shortest amount of time since HST decided on bombing Japan!
These mRNA therapy approach appears to be interesting, alibeit not very well understood yet. They appear to have been of real value to people who are particularly vulnerable to this virus, particularly people who are obese, very old, and with other comorbidities.
But they are not "vaccines" according to any traditional understanding of what vaccines are - they are something else.
It is immensely unhelpful for you people to mislead people about that by mischaracterizing them as vaccines, and it is irresponsible for you to advocate massively over prescribing these treatments to many tens of millions of people who either do not need them or would do better without them.
Well the CDC was wrong..YET AGAIN. You can catch covid once vaccinated.
Nobody including the CDC said you couldn't... They said the opposite, but the chances are much slimmer. No vaccine is perfect.
My theory on this problem is that too many people do not know or have forgotten that the vaccine does not give instant immunity. It typically takes 2 weeks after vaccination for the body to build protection against covid.
No need to link up to anything. The meaning of the word vaccine has been widely adopted, used and understood for a long time. The understanding that we all had of what this word means at the end of 2019, before all this started, is as valid now as it was then.
Any self-serving "authority" figure that you would respect who is trying to insist this word has all of the sudden been redefined, just for this situation, is a corrupt, deceitful, manipulative gaslighter who is not trustworthy.
Your appeal to authority is not accepted.
Why are you getting your panties in a major twist over a freaking word? The shot works no matter what it's called.

How they eliminated polio was shouted from the rooftops as an example of what they planned to do with covid.
70-80% get their shots, create herd immunity and that nasty virus would disappear.

'Me' people again? You mean the rest of the related scientific and medical related world.
Send me one link of a specialist agreeing with you about our current vaccines. Just one.
Here is a definition of vaccine from the CDC website (until they change it). This definition looks good and is consistent with what the vast majority of the people on Earth have understood this word to mean for basically the entirety of our lives:
Vaccines contain the same germs that cause disease. (For example, measles vaccine contains measles virus, and Hib vaccine contains Hib bacteria.) But they have been either killed or weakened to the point that they don’t make you sick. Some vaccines contain only a part of the disease germ.
A vaccine stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies, exactly like it would if you were exposed to the disease. After getting vaccinated, you develop immunity to that disease, without having to get the disease first.
This is what makes vaccines such powerful medicine. Unlike most medicines, which treat or cure diseases, vaccines prevent them.
It is important that we evaluate these sorts of questions and standards based on what we believe, rather than who we believe. The CDC has misled us and does not always get everything right, as we all should know very well by now. In this case, a person can use their own brain and see that this is a good definition. If they come along later and change it to a bad or inadequate definition, it will not be enough that the CDC has said so, they will be wrong. But here, this looks right.
Sorry....you say the CDC has misled us, yet you are presenting a definition right off the CDC website?
Anyway, the definition above, which has been dumbed down a little for the general public, is good enough. And, as the definition states, "Some vaccines contain only a part of the disease germ."
The Covid-19 vaccines contain only a part of coronavirus - they contain the genetic material that codes for the spike protein. It's a vaccine, period.

Actually not quite period, since the vaccines may be a treatment for long Covid syndrome.
But that fact would actually amplify the importance and use of the vaccines. As opposed to some here with apparent intent to denigrate them.
Of course I could be wrong.
I would be careful about the republicans here making statement's like "Biden's Covid Spike" and other related insults because you only will encourage them to bring back masks and distancing. If it's spiking, it's not Biden's fault, and even if it was, what do you want him to do? Put us back in masks? Don't give them any ideas, please.

And MANY who got the shots did indeed get Covid!
