OK, maybe so...a preventative then. But all these and other vaccines are preventatives.
Actually I have read that giving the Covid 19 vaccine to long haulers may be therapeutic.
Lexington, KY has an impressive slightly over 70% fully vaccinated rate. This is not the unvaccinated spreading it.
The state’s fully vaccinated rate of those 18 and older is 44.84%.
Most of the newly diagnosed everywhere were not vaccinated and are on the young side and it’s all about the Delta variant which unlike the original SARS Covid- 19 is sickening children.
Most between 12-17 have not been vaccinated anywhere. None under 12 have been vaccinated.
Schools reopen in 4-6 weeks, most places. All it will take is one previously healthy kiddo in a school/ district to be ventilated in the children’s ICU to cause districts to reevaluate reopening plans.
It was always made very clear that the vaccine was not 100% effective and that we did not know how long the vaccine would last nor how effective it would be against new variants.
Nothing has changed here, except that the Delta variant is significantly more contagious and causing more breakthrough cases. This is especially true because people who have not been vaccinated generally ignore the CDC and most local regulations stating that they must continue wearing masks indoors.
There's a mountain of things they didn't/don't know about the vaccine, but that did't stop them from sticking it in millions of arms.
BTW, increased contagiousness does not mean more breakthrough cases. At least it wouldn't of it was a true vaccine.
I've mentioned before but pay attention to drug commercials on TV, amongst all the horrific possible side effects you'll always find what the drug is supposed to cure. That way if the drug doesn't work, they can say it worked but you are simply experiencing a known side effect:
New Alergia alergy medicine. Possible side effects include heart attack, full body skin erosion, exploding liver, full paralysis, stuffy nose, New or worsening death.
All vaccines are therapeutic treatments. I don't see why any of the current vaccines, are not vaccines!
All vaccines may be therapeutic treatments, but not all therapeutic treatments are vaccines. This inoculation is a therapeutic treatment, but it is not a vaccine according to traditional standards and expectations.
This is just going to get more and more controversial in the weeks to come. And if you think about it over that period, while it is happening, I think you will realize that a substantial part of that controversy is due to mischaracterizing this inoculation as a vaccine, when it really does not deliver on the expectations that go with that label.
If it were represented as a therapy treatment, then it would be performing within a range of ways that people would regard as more appropriate and reasonable.

Right on!
If our current Pandemic had been hitting kids instead of oldsters, even the most right sided anti-vaxxer would bend.
Man is inherently much more naturally protective of the 12 y/o girl vs the 90 y/o.
I get the feeling many of you want the vaccines to fail.
You mean even though we claim otherwise?
<sigh>
You're gonna believe what you want to believe. Even though your feelings are wrong.
