Hell they can't even determine between regular covid and influenza. Probably why the FDA pulled emergency use PCR testing from the CDC. To paraphrase, this test is s***.
There's not a rapid test for Delta variant; however, the CDC or other labs can sample some of the tests people have had and do genetic sequencing on them and find the Delta variant. In that way, right now, there is a test.

My son tested positive this week for COVID and the test he had also checked for the 3 variants that were common in the last year and that have now had fast tests established for him. He was negative for all 3 of those variants so his doctor is assuming his case is Delta. Whether or not, they select his test to further sequence, we'll probably never know.

We haven’t had a lockdown in Sydney, except for the last few weeks, since May 2020. One part of the city had a couple of weeks at Christmas. I haven’t been apart from anyone until now.

My kid’s been in school in person since May last year.

We’ve had nowhere near the amount of restrictions in Australia as a whole than a lot of the rest of the world.

This current crisis is recent, not something we’ve had to deal with until now.
What crisis? Case numbers? How many?

Any future restrictions (lock downs, mask) will be caused the people who do not get vaccinated and mostly by the people which spew misinformation about the vaccines.

If you don't want a lockdown you should get vaccinated. You're trying to have your cake and eat it too.

The chief health officer of New South Wales gave a press conference telling Australians that they shouldn’t “engage in conversation with each other,” even if they’re wearing masks, in order to reduce the transmission of COVID.

You are spewing misinformation. The new cases especially the serious cases are among people who are not vaccinated.
