I dont think Mexico is mostly urban.

Seems not everyone is ready to see it end either.

“Idaho legislators rejected a bill that would have blocked marriage for youth under age 16 in the state, The Idaho Statesman reported.

"I do not think courts should be involved in marriage at all," Republican representative Bryan Zollinger said. "I don't believe there should be a license required to get married. I think two willing people should be able to go and get married."”

Some sects certainly don’t disapprove.

“ Child marriage is a real problem in the United States, one that isn’t talked about much. Like human trafficking, we assume that child marriage is something that happens in other countries, countries with antiquated world views and gender norms. But it happens here all the time – at least 9,247 minors were married in the United States in the year 2010 alone.

But more work remains, and a major stumbling block, at least in Kentucky, appears to be evangelical religious groups and conservative lawmakers.

Kentucky has the third-highest rate of child marriages in the nation. Currently, Kentucky law states that, although you must typically be 18 to marry, a 16- or 17-year-old can marry with parental consent. With a judge’s consent, and if the girl is pregnant, there is no minimum age. “

Child marriages between 2000 and 2015, ~200,000:

67% of the children were aged 17.
29% of the children were aged 16.
4% of the children were aged 15.
<1% of the children were aged 14 and under.
There were 51 cases of 13-year-olds getting married, and 6 cases of 12-year-olds getting married.

as well:
Girls of Hispanic/ Latina origin are more likely than those of black or white heritage to be married as a minor

People got married younger hundreds of years ago because they also died younger for multiple reasons. I find it odd that a few posters on here defend child marriage. Of course, if the people in the news were white Southerners they'd be saying exactly the opposite!

Selective outrage.

Mother of the girl arrested on child abuse charges.

Bizarre that her eyebrows look just like the baby's fathers.

Or shouldn't have snuck in? I don't know what's going on with immigration but if even the people who come here legally aren't understanding our laws and customs then we've REALLY dropped the ball and someone needs to shine a light on that and have it corrected.

I don't know. You think?

I don't see any family resemblance between the mother and the young man. You think it could be?

I thought "both families were happy with the occasion" and all that but now it appears the father of the girl is in prison for rape? Mmm .... a really happy family!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what unfolds.

The number of resident leftists on here excusing this behaviour is abhorrent. If it was white guy from Appalachia who committed this crime (and yes of course they exist too), it would be a very different tone from them.
