Throughout history a female was considered “ready” at the onset of puberty. There is no question we are all decedents of what now is considered a child.
The concept of childhood is a relatively new construct and not universal.

Based on their Facebook posts, neither made a secret of their relationship and posted pictures of their baby shower. Obviously their friends/ families were happy for them. Obviously, these two intended to raise their child in a two- parent home.
We know nothing factual about the citizenship of either the mother or the father. Why speculate?

FFS Clara the man is 24 and he impregnated a 12 year old (likely 11 at the time). Why are you bending over backward to excuse this? Your career has been shaping young minds and protecting them yet you are trying to excuse statutory rape.
People please - there is no such thing as 'statutory rape'! Rape is defined as forced sex. Period. Underage sex is not rape although it may be illegal and that is all it is - illegal.
This young man and his partner are, well, partners. It's not a case of excusing anything, it's a case of the facts. The young man impregnated a very young girl and as odd as it may seem to you and I, it is not odd for these people. (Actually, it's very odd!)
But please let's not start bringing in 'statutory rape'. What kind of a law is that anyway! It's underage sex under law but it was consensual. It would be immoral (and cruel) to prosecute them. I just hope they don't get prosecuted.
We have little information about the man at this time. However, let’s not act as though there aren’t American-born Hispanics that live in Oklahoma or as though Americans of all backgrounds don’t commit these types of crimes. My heart goes out to the little girl and the baby. Terrible.

They look distinctly American ... which means they could look like absolutely anyone on the planet.
I lived in OKC area for two years. You have a broad mix of everything. Hispanic, black, white, an unusually large amount of Native American, Asians, Pacific islanders, etc. The only sorts I didn't run into much were Jews, people from India and Catholics.
I guess that settles it. This guy looks like a space alien from outer space.
no one said it never happened in the us. And just because this does happen everywhere does not make it ok here in the US now. Many countries recognize these minor/ adult relationships as being wrong especially when there is a big age gap. Many states in Mexico do not, it is more of a cultural norm. One that is still followed by some here in the US.
