I have no idea what it would look like now. I just hope it doesn't look like it did before RvW back in the day.

It'll get turfed to states, a few scuffles here and there and will look basically like it does right now.

So ... ultimately no real changes.

Except some politicians will get lots of donations over it, on both sides of the issue.

There are already a number of states that have passed laws that will automatically become effective following the repeal of Roe v Wade. They vary in how restrictive they are and the length of the trigger (30 days is popular), but it will be a situation where abortions are not available in many states and more tightly regulated than they are now in others. Women of means in these states will not be greatly affected because they will be able to travel to states where they are available. Poor women will bear the brunt and have more unwanted babies they cannot afford. We will see more serious injuries and deaths from unsanctioned procedures. Abortion will become a hotter topic politically than it has been in many years.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

More paying section 8 and food stamps for single mothers. It's not like banning abortion is going to stop women from having sex. It probably won't change things much. Bringing up abortion doesnt being moderates to your side it tends to make them vote blue.... Abortion is like mask mandates...it has hardcore supporters but those people would vote Republican even if abortion was left legal by their party.

Most people tend to be against partial birth abortions but only a few percent of abortions are partial birth.

Wouldn't there be a backlash from the progressive side? If so, what kind? Practically speaking, what can be done from the progressive side?

Also would the conservative stop their effort there? Or would they go after blue states to make them ban abortion as well?

If they are successful with overturning RvW, why would they stop there? What about marriage equality? Wouldn't they want to go after that too?

Or perhaps there will be an uptick in the use of BC to avoid pregnancy in the first place.

Maybe women will choose sexual partners using more than 'oh he bought me a drink and he's cute.'

Perhaps there will be more thought into how babies are made and what being a mom or dad means.

Maybe men will take a step back with the very real perceived threat of being on the hook financially for 18 years.

In a nutshell: Maybe there will be an increase in self awareness, self esteem, conscious choice, and responsibility. And Maturity.

Right?

If there is less opportunity for abortion, maybe there will be less activity that leads to abortion. Which is more than sex, it's choices.

What happens after RvW is overturned?

Not much. Abortions will continue to be legal and readily available in all states that don't make laws against them.

Actually far more Americans will approve of this situation, since people who want to continue abortions can persuade their state legislatures to vote that way, and people who don't want them, can persuade their state legislatures in that direction.

A few liberals who want to control the country by a few court verdicts rather than passing actual laws approved by the people, will be upset and unhappy. But then, liberals are always upset and unhappy.

That has nothing to do with abortion.

The GOP has a strong advantage going into midterms right now. Overturning RvW will wipe that out. This shows clearly they prefer the religious right over woman, and that message will be told VERY clearly. This might be enough to hand midterms back to democrats.
