I had a close friend who got an abortion while in graduate school. Six weeks later she was pregnant again. “I guess I must be really fertile” she said.
A woman who has adequate obstetric care would KNOW that women are most fertile right after a pregnancy. That’s what I mean— a number of abortions could be avoided. She had money and access to birth control. She had no excuse.
She kept the second pregnancy, married the guy, and managed to graduate and have a career—with twins.
My OB never told me that. Just think if she was forced to have a baby while in graduate school. She probably would have dropped out and never would have graduated and thus had no career. She may have been on welfare for all we know. We all make decisions based on what is best for us. And it should be up to us and not government telling us what to do

Why did no one ever tell these women in graduate school to not have sex until they’re ready to care for a child? I guess that is out of the question?
Apart from that—
A woman will still be able to get an abortion, correct? In every state in the country, correct?
Are you just mad because she can’t do it when the baby is 6 months along?
It isn’t aggressively suggestive if you’ve posted these beliefs before. Do you support same sex adoptions?
I haven’t discussed this before and Stillwater Townie has been putting words in people’s mouths—it’s one of the logical fallacies, like “did your wife cry when you beat her up”?
Did no one tell these men not to have sex and get women pregnant. It works both ways.
Fair point. I tell both my son and daughter, don’t have sex unless you are prepared to take care of a child...IOW, having sex puts you at risk of parenthood.
Of course there are plenty of ways to be intimate without risking pregnancy.
Anyways, since abortion as far as I can tell won’t be outlawed but limited to earlier in the pregnancy, what exactly are you outraged about?
Then why expect a ban on all abortion in this country to save the country from moral decline? .
Hyperbole much? This case cannot result in that. It can make such matters an issue of state's rights. That would not result in a 50 state ban-not even close, btw.
I understand that you do not support states rights (which is enshrined in the Bill of Rights). This however does not mean your view of things is “already established”. I see your location listed as Long Island, a very blue left wing part of the country. Mississippi on the other hand is a very religious and conservative part of the country. I would bet money on the founding fathers siding with Mississippi on this issue if they were alive today.
I also would love to know what gives people who live in NY, MA or CA the right to tell people in MS, TN or SC what laws they should have or how they should live. Of course all leftists throughout the past 100 years have had the goal of spreading their revolution to all....those who want it and those who must be forced to accept it. In our era this now is true of left wing social causes as well as the imposition of socialism as an economic system. When will the leftists realize that much of the country wants nothing to do with their agenda. We don’t want it and we will refuse it. Look at Roe v Wade. We have spent the last 50 years undermining it, testing it and doing our best to save the lives of the innocent children killed by this heinous 1973 ruling. In 50 years you have not changed our minds. We are still fighting this. This is not New York down here. We don’t have your values and we never will.
Just because MS, TN, and SC hold social views much closer to those of the Middle East than those of the rest of the first world doesn't make it right. And what does it say about MS, TN, and SC if leftist states like NY, MA, and CA have much more successful capitalist economies (not to mention education and healthcare) than they do.
