I don't have children, but I have no problem with tax benefits that parents with children can get.

There is a wide range of things that anyone can do in order to get tax deductions for the activity. If people choose to have children, and thus get tax breaks, that's a choice that they made, and a choice that I could have made, but didn't.

It seems far cheaper NOT to have kids (and NOT to get related tax breaks) than to have kids and get the related tax breaks. So I come out ahead.

Same work, same pay or it is discrimination.

Why are we debating what is a fair agreement between two principles? Its up to them.

Oh, but we don't. People who have kids choose to have them. People who don't have kids don't get to choose to pay extra taxes for those who have kids. And now thanks to the Biden plan (which I largely approve of,) we get to pay even more taxes on other people's kids. I wouldn't be so bitter about it if I weren't already paying half a house payment in property taxes to educate other people's kids on my home that is supposedly paid off. We the childless are actually doing the world a favor. We do not need to add more people to this overloaded planet. We're destroying it as it is. If we don't have enough taxpayers in America, the solution is increasing immigration, not subsidizing yet more reproduction.

There is a giant difference between giving someone a tax break and actually setting up a system where you give someone a surcharge for not having kids.
Having children is and should be financially incentivized in a society that needs to be sustained by our progeny someday.

It’s an investment worth making. Single folks should be taxed at a higher rate. It simply makes sense.

Yes.

Back in the day, many employers would deliberately pay men more than women because the "men had families to support." (And no accommodation for the working widow with children) It took many years to get that fixed (and in many cases women still make less than men for the same job). Let's not go back there.

Regarding tax credits for children, I wish they would apply only to the first 2 or 3 kids. I don't think society at large should have to help out with a family of 5 or 7 kids. That's on the parents IMO.

I believe the one who works harder and efficient and goes the extra mile, plus the type of job, should get the pay they deserve whether a parent or child free. Why should someone who has a child, either is just doing enough to get by, doesn’t bother to learn from observing from someone with higher skill, or studying the position, get paid more then someone who is childfree who is working their tail off? I would add visa versa.

The government shouldn't discriminate based on parenthood, marital status, gender, or sexual orientation.

Let's make it fair. If you don't have kids, live completely independent of any assistance from younger people when you are older.
