A separate study recently found that more than 80% of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 were vitamin D deficient.

I have not been taking Vitamin D supplements and haven't contracted Covid 19. Just another datapoint.

I know a heavy set girl who had a vitamin D deficit and was taking 5,000 mgs of vitamin D before Covid. She works in the health industry and got a mild case of covid early on.

Her doctor told her it was a good thing she was taking vitamin D and she did fairly well for being heavy and having asthma. She was also put on steroids and had a breathing inhaler. Some people are sent home with covid and get nothing , no meds, nothing.

I regularly go outside in the sunlight, and I have not contracted Covid-19.

I wrote a long e-mail and the site reloaded.

Vitamin D works. There are over 10 years of studies on it improving everything from the flu to cancer.

Dana Farber cancer institute is using it for colon cancer and seeing major results.

It is pure denial to say "we don't know" if it works. There is plenty of evidence if you care to look with a non irrational eye.

Many Americans are vitamin D deficient - especially those in northern states. Almost all black Americans are deficient. So it proves little. Know what really works? Vaccination. Why pop pills and hope for the best when a very effective and safe vaccine is at your nearest pharmacy? One can always take D after being vaccinated for whatever benefits it may offer.

Maybe helps, I take 50k mil per week and I did get COVID. But I was 1/2 vaxed -so not sure if the vita or vax or meds got me out of it in a week or so. But at 68 - I am grateful.

It probably can’t hurt.

I would not however, rely solely on any vitamin.

The article states that they are looking to start a clinical trial to show if there are any true effects. Should be interesting.
