There's always been a clever way and many comedians have done it. There's also many edgy comedians whether you want your emotions to take over and pull the race card out or not.
- Richard Pryor
- Eddie Murphy
- Kevin Hart
- Chris Rock
- Dave Chappelle
- Russell Peters
- Bill Burr
- Gabriel Iglesias
- Lewis Black
- George Carlin
All are/were great comedians. No race is safe with them, and it's all in good fun. And a lot of those guys are very edgy, and talk about race in a clever way.
Swing and a miss.
you are literally arguing just to argue. And on top of that, you basically took my post, proved it, then tried to flip it like you shut me down. LMAO.
obsessed. lol
Like i said, there is a clever way to do race and comedy, then there are people that are just racist claiming they are "edgy".

No, you just can't handle being wrong. Because I'm willing to bet you'd say Bill Burr was being edgy. Same for George Carlin. Matter of fact, why don't you provide us a list of comedians who are claiming they're "edgy?"
The idea of 'punching up/down' is ridiculous. Good comedy will rise to the top, bad comedy will fail on it's own. No need for howlers like DiAngelo at all.

Notice her formulation of "punching up" vs. "punching down" makes it OK to punch whites because they're "up" but it's not OK to punch minorities because they're "down" -- effectively elevating whites above everyone else. You know, in the name of "anti-racism" (wink wink).

You must be younger; how could you have left out Don Rickles?
Somehow, they can still get away with it at roasts. I love all the Comedy Central Roasts, because it reminds me of what comedy used to be like. I sometimes wonder how they managed to preserve it while stand up comedy has lost it's edge.
