The councilperson’s quote isn't really relevant. The public health crisis isn’t about gun violence, it’s about housing, health and nutrition. 15 states have passed similar resolutions. It just acknowledges the different health outcomes for different races and tasks localities with narrowing the gap.

Clutch your pearls in phony outrage is you want but it’s only making you look simple.
Perhaps, but that doesn't make the councilman's statement any less stupid! Politicians thrive on finding moments to capitalize and campaign on. This is just one of those cases. He is simply looking to see if he can use this moment for his own gain. Its really that simple... but then again, something simple minded folks probably miss!

Yes, the governor said some things against blacks at one time. You know how it goes. They then call it racist if you beleive minorities have any faults. Or should be held responsible for anything.
So black leader decided to blackmail him. In order to not protest and keep him in office.
Then the taxpayers and people that elected him pay the price.

Dont want the police catching criminals because that is racist. Then crime goes up and blacks are the victims. That is also then considered racist.

Just one of several obsessions/fixations that the typical leftist has. You know, race, gender, sexual preference, climate change, covidophilia, vaxophilia, wokism, etc. Their world revolves around this stuff. It's a sort of heroin.

This clown could hear his neighbor sneeze and that would be an example of racism.

The major hole in his racism is a public health crisis theory didn't come from a bullet it comes from the fact that it is black guys shooting other black guys and innocent people that get caught in the crossfire.

Who is giving these bozos a soapbox?

The problem is this statement:

Quote:
“If you peel back the layers many times, you’ll find the Black community is experiencing underlying illnesses at higher rates,” she said. “I would venture to say that every area of health has been impacted by racism.”
At what point do people take responsibility for themselves and their personal choices? Most health problems are caused by poor nutrition and an unwillingness to move the body to burn calories. According to the CDC, the group with the highest obesity rate is the black community.

The poorest neighborhoods in Chicago have community gardens. There's a mobile fruit and vegetable truck (Fresh Moves, part of an organization called Growing Power) that goes to low-income areas and sells produce at affordable prices. This is important because grocery stores leave those neighborhoods - and if you wonder why that's the case, you haven't been keeping up. (hint: it's not due to racism)

If people living in rough areas don't feel safe enough to go out and walk - an affordable exercise - how is that racist? I feel badly for them, but can they do something inside their homes to get some exercise in?

Some people are afraid to go to the doctor or are so unmotivated they refuse to go to the doctor. That's not due to racism. In urban areas you can walk to a doctor if you can't afford public transportation and have no way to get there. And Medicaid will pay for it.

He was inspired because hearing gun shots has become so normal he doesn't even flinch anymore and that's racist? As long as people keep pointing their finger at something that isn't the root of the problem, the problem will always exist.

Stop voting for Democrats who are getting softer and softer on crime. Demand that your politicians clean up the streets and keep showing up at their offices until that happens. Eat better. Move your body. Go to the doctor.

It's not rocket science.

So is obesity but I guess that doesn’t fit the beehive narrative.

Ummm. Nutrition = obesity.

My fellow white people let me down constantly. Acknowledging that lending practices, for example, lead to worse health outcomes isn’t playing the victim or shrugging off responsibility. Pretending that said discrepancy doesn’t exist is shrugging off responsibility. If better infrastructure can lead to a healthier population, explore the options. If you need to entice grocers to move into low income neighborhoods, explore the options.

This is America. You can rest assured that nothing truly meaningful will happen. There won’t be a redistribution of wealth (there should be but it will never happen). Some walking trails will be added. A few parks with exercise equipment will be spruced up. A few bus routes may be reworked and the city will throw some tax breaks at a national grocery chain so that they build in the East End and down Jefferson Davis.

There’s nothing to see here. Just some people trying to tweak the system so that future generations are a bit better off. If you find that a threat to your lifestyle, you’re a sad individual.

They did entice grocers, they received a warm (ie. fiery) welcome.

Maybe take up your suggestion with the city councils and mayors that used a "soft touch" to respond to these actions about where the people are supposed to go now for groceries?

Also, non-policing of "petty" theft is not what I would call an enticement to do business in a low-income area, nor is defunding.

In short, you need to provide safety and security in those communities in order to have those things and that's been deemed "racist".

Calling gunshots "racism" has nothing to do with "tweaking the system" so that future generations are better off. That's where you have it wrong. I think most people don't have problems with programs to increase nutritional awareness, encourage exercise, discourage smoking, drug, and alcohol abuse. However, not being able to walk in your neighborhood because young black men are constantly shooting each other and innocent people are getting caught in the crossfire isn't "racism".

There's nothing altruistic about using this kind of language. It's about an attempt to seize power through lies by an aggrieved and angry minority. The end result will be more misery for more people than already exists, because their "utopia" is actually a dystopia. For some reason self loathing white people have taken up supporting this garbage as their new religion.

I am a lifelong Democrat voter and I believe in wide social safety nets. However, this obsession with race and redefining everything by it is a sickness that is destructive and stupid.
