There are already stories about how "selfless" she is and "should we really be putting this kind of pressure on people for the silly endeavor of representing their country?," etc.

She's going to be more famous now than if she just did what was expected and won the gold medal! No one cares about that crap anymore....besides, the country she's winning for is racist anyway!

We used to call this choking. Not answering the bell. Letting your teammates down, etc. Playing and losing is one thing....not even showing up....that was the worst! The media would have criticized her. The country would have felt let down. But not any longer. This is the product of the "trophy for all" mentality in all its glory!

NO ONE will be able to criticize her...for fear of being called a racist, or a sexist, or a "mental health phobe" etc. It's absolutely brilliant! Congrats to her and to the media for creating a dumbed down society that cares more about personal stories and victimhood than actually showing up and taking responsibility and winning!

And what exactly are your accomplishments that give you the right to criticize anybody?

Lots of way to describe Simone but the simplest and most accurate word to describe her is "Quitter"..!

She should have stayed home if she so feared defeat that she has to back out at the last moment. Her routines sucked and she knew she wasn't going to be successful so she quit. That fact will follow her around for the rest of her life.

You think she should have sucked it up and risked serious injury so she could entertain you with her competitive spirit.
What she experienced doing her vault was the fact that she doesn't have it anymore, and yes, she should have sucked it up and continued, that is what a champion would do. She QUIT..! as in loser..!

There are those supporters of her that would say that she was having mental health issues even before the trials.

If that's the case, then it makes her quitting even worse.

Because she quit during these games, no other gymnast will be able to take her place in the all around (because none of the original non-qualifiers had the opportunity to try again for a spot, which would have happened if Biles had withdrawn before the games started).

She's the one that's been anointing herself as GOAT, even designing and wearing outfits with that designation. If you're going to hype yourself up at the expense of your teammates and mock the 'haters,' then you better be ready for the fallout that comes when you fail to produce. Like I said, humility seems far lacking in this one, it was always about her.

Not angry, just stating the truth. You are on a sympathy jag, quitters don't deserve sympathy..
WINNERS don't quit, quitters don't win.

Now I get it, if I don't agree with you it's because I'm angry..! Sounds like something that a democrat would say...

It's like the people now quitting their jobs because they feel like they are underpaid. So they are better off not working at all, going back to live with parents, apparently. As an adult in this world you cannot survive if you feelings get hurt all the time, it's just part of life. Unfortunately it seems like many people today don't understand that.

I think a lot of the people judging Simone so harshly probably have never been affected by severe anxiety. Many people at the height of their game suffer from it, it's pretty common. I'm glad that she can acknowledge that it is disabilitating and she will work on it. I never believed in it until a few years ago, and just relied on "Suckling it up".

Lol why would anyone with marketable skills willingly work for a job that they are underpaid? No one owes their employers anything.

Just like Simone Biles doesn't owe you or anyone else entertainment. She's done more than enough to prove her incredible talent and skills as an athlete.
