I disagree. I think she has a certain personality that is not like the hidden agenda type that you describe her as. therefore, i think we can believe her when she says she quit because she was not mentally up to it.
I do believe her when she says the environment of the Olympics has changed, the covid restrictions, the no fans in the audience, the politics of it all, who wants to perform with all that. I think a lot of outside factors ruined it.
She does not present herself as a BLM type, so i disagree with your last sentence.
Look at her like a person, not as an activist.
I agree. I've never seen Biles as the activist type, BLM or otherwise.
She is a very impressive American and I wish her well. Whatever issues affected her, and I admit I didn't follow events closely, are unfortunate, but don't in any way diminish her, at least in my mind. I wish most Americans were half as dedicated as she is.
"Pike" and "Somersault" are not contrasting terms and this was a pathetic attempt at an Ad Hominem. As another gymnastics aficionado who spent over 15 years actively in the sport, I assure you that there was no error and that "double back somersault" is the correct term for the dismount Biles performed. A double back somersault can be performed in the tuck, pike, or layout position. Hers was piked. It was also a double back somersault.
Oh, oops, I forgot to mention that the dismount was actually a back handspring, back handspring, piked double back somersault. I guess that makes me another idiot who knows nothing about gymnastics, right?
Anyway, the relevant point is that if Biles was operating at 100%, she wouldn't have watered down her dismount, which normally includes twists. The plain double back reduced the difficulty rating of her routine. Why would she do that, if she didn't feel she had to?
Lol, so many words to agree with me
But on to the real point in your last para...Yes, that is the point! She wasn't performing 100% and she knew it early on. And rather than lose, she made up a mental health issue, then claimed the twisties, and then when it was clear the wokesters had her back, came back and performed a simple routine to pick up a bronze.
Hopefully she has learned a valuable lesson and will just be honest in future.
