Considering the burning city riots in Portland, Seattle, LA, Wisconsin, DC, etc., this was a peaceful if rowdy protest.
When we have punishment based on political affiliation, we're well on our way to becoming a Latin American third world thugocracy. This is not America any more.
Trespassing is a much more serious crime than murder, mayhem and looting. Get with the program!
Some damage? They had pitched battles with the police! The left urine and feces on the floors and walls of our seat of government! It took millions of tax dollars to repair the place. That's not routine maintenance. Trespass? they broke into the building and let their co-conspirators in. That's not just crossing a line but breaking and entering. Where is the GOP outrage about a lack of law and order?
That's whataboutism and a deflection. Democrats did not sponsor, allow, excuse or make justifications for the unrest during the summer. Focus on the issue here.

Yes some damage unlike the billions done to cities around the USA. Did some break in and others were let in. I agree the one who damaged the property give them jail time. Bail does not drop charges nor give pardons. Those bailed still have to face charges.
Trump started the insurrection, egged it on, got impeached, then partisan Senators let him off scot-free. Let that sink in.
They side with it, but refuse to acknowledge the video evidence. Also, Make no mistake. If the impeachment was a private vote, Trump would of been kicked to the curb. Grown men dont like to be manipulated, or threatened to make them do something they normally wouldn't do. They stick with him for his base support, and fear of losing their seat in their district. They know he's too toxic for this country. There is a crack in that wall, more and more are seeing just how corrupt he really is.
January 6th was a mostly peaceful protest. Then FBI moles incited violence. We need the names of those FBI informants. We are not going to get them from the sham committee. And what about the usurpation of democracy by democrats who illegally changed voting laws?
