Biden Administration takes the blame for not being tougher on this. They certainly take it seriously enough but they are too concerned with trying to make nice with a large swath of people who would cut of their nose to spite their face when it comes to digging in politically over a vaccination. 'Eff 'em. Quit being nice and just get serious about vaccines. We didn't need to slide back like we are now.
I agree totally.

And, I don't think their messaging on vaccines has been great. Too confusing, too complicated and not appropriately targeted soon enough.

You do know that Central and South American countries actually have better vax rates than the U.S. even before the Covid outbreak. Remember the measles outbreak a few years ago? Those countries didn't have a problem because they do vaccinate at a higher rate than the U.S. You won't hear that on Fox, OAN, or Newsmax.

The problem in the U.S. is from the idiots that refuse to get vaccinated because the pandemic was politicalized by Trump.
Well.......

According to the link below, that's not true....
https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

% of population fully vaccinated:

USA - 48%
Argentina - 15%
Brazil - 18%
Mexico - 18%
Colombia - 23%
Peru - 13%

% of population partially vaccinated:

USA - 56%
Argentina - 53%
Brazil - 48%
Mexico - 35%
Colombia - 33%
Peru - 24%

If I were to lay blame on anyone, I would point more heavily at Dr. Fauci than either President, simply because his early messages were so inconsistent that THOSE are what drew criticism not only from Trump, but also from a lot of the population as well. Then, the vaccines were fast tracked and have not thoroughly been tested and there is always the fear of the unknown for long term side effects on vaccines. Those are valid reasons to be hesitant to get a vaccine, especially if no one in their immediate household has dealt with COVIDS first hand.

That said, I do think this whole pandemic is being politically weaponized and that's a shame. I didn't vote for Biden, but my wife and I did get the vaccine, but only because she almost died from COVIDS and for us the fear of the unknown was less than the fear of even the slightest chance that she could get it again. I never took any of Trump's messages as saying not to get vaccinated. Quite the opposite actually.

Every person who fails to get a vaccine and/or take precautions to avoid infection is at fault for this. I don't think people really understand how desperate the situation is in regions with outbreaks right now. Hospitals in Florida are canceling surgeries -- all surgeries -- because Covid is rampant. My mother needs emergency procedure. She had her pre-op work yesterday and was just informed that her surgery is canceled indefinitely. Did I mention that her surgery is classified as an emergency procedure? The hospital's recovery room is now host to 20 Covid patients on ventilators because there are no ICU rooms available. I am scared out of my wits. Please, folks, if you haven't yet been vaccinated, schedule an appointment now, and take care of yourself. And, for God's sake, please protect your children from infection. Even if they have mild or non-existent symptoms, they can spread the virus.

Trump’s COVID vaccines. 1 point positive. Biden's illegals. 2 points negative.

DO THE MATH.

No, but it still happened on his watch so how he reacts to it is how I will judge his performance.

The problem with Trump is his need to be the smartest person in the room had him saying some stupid ish which made people lose confidence in his ability to handle the situation.

People point out “Warp Speed” like it was a game changer. I expect our government to speed up the vaccination process by giving companies more money. Bravo. Good job.

But that is like a parent giving a child cold medicine. You don’t get credit for doing what you are supposed to do.

But now the CDC says the vaccinated can get sick and be just as contagious as the unvaccinated.

So, I guess everyone needs to blame themselves, vaccinated or unvaccinated.
The unvaccinated are almost entirely responsible for the current pandemic surge, yes some miniscule amount of vaccinated can get sick but it reduces the effect and they don't normally end up in an ICU. Even republican governors are coming around to that obvious fact.

You do understand the COVID vax has been out for a few months now, right? Plenty of time for people to get them. And just because a country is "dirt poor" as you put it, doesn't mean they don't have access to the vax. Most of them have free public health care and, unlike the U.S., so yeah, for them to get the vax is probably pretty easy.
I work for CBP and I’ve been down at the southern border since February to help BP process these migrants. None of the migrants here is vaccinated with COVID vaccine in their countries because they don’t have any covid vaccine. Even if it is readily available, they would not be the first one to get it.

Also, covid vaccine is free in the US, so what the heck are you talking about?

correction.
Anthony Fuci wasn't taking it seriously. The president banned travel from China and Biden called him a racist.
