I suppose that's true. As I said, an interesting way to look at it.
Population of Peru is 33million about. 196, 214 deaths. So about 5-6% just to put their plight in the same realm.
WRONG! You are off by a factor of 10. If you divide 196,214 by 33,000,000 you get 0.006 which is six-tenths of 1%. That's way less than 1%, but still about 3 times the rate of the US which is only two-tenths of 1%.
Great so if vaccines work why is the government trying to force masks on them! BTW a few thousand immigrants with Covid can spread it to hundreds of thousands. Your boy Biden is doing a great job at being a superspreader!
My guess is that since Biden is letting illegals into the country from Mexico and warmer climates they would have the propensity to gravitate to Florida.
But you don't have a problem with the governor overriding cities that want to impose restrictions.
The reason the death rate is low is mostly due to the vaccine, 160 million unvaccinated and you're concerned about a few thousand immigrants. The ICU's are filling up in Florida because of the spike, I guess DeSantis solution is to just ignore the surge it will just disappear on it's own.
Apprehensions of illegals are at 1.1M this fiscal year. And then you have the ones that didn’t get caught.
Can you imagine that it matters to the families of those 620,000 dead people? Statistics don't matter when it is the life of your loved one. 620,000 is still a lot of people.
Statistics DO matter. It's just that some people can't get past their own emotions in order to see things in proper perspective. Yes... 620,000 is a lot of people, but 319,380,000 is a hell of a lot more.
We KNOW the population of the US (within a very small percentage) accurately. The total number of cases of Covid is just a wild guess. Besides, how many people were exposed to Covid and never came down with it or never got tested for it?
The best way to show the impact of Covid on a country is by comparing the deaths due to Covid to the entire population of the country. This shows the death rate of Covid for the country. Yes, some people suffer lasting consequences from Covid, but nevertheless, the death rate for the US is only two-tenths of 1%.
That means that of the 320,000,000 people who were living in the US about 18 months ago when Covid started here, 319,380,000 of them are still alive or died of something other than Covid. That kind of puts the problem into perspective.
Deaths alone do not capture the massive impact. It would be best to put this virus behind us but this pandering by politicians to their electorate isn't helping. We will see if DeSantis follows up his bluster but right now some elected officials and businesses aren't going along with his nonsense.
They're filling up the hospitals and dying in droves, too.
DeSantis is going to find himself in a place where he's going to have to cave to the science. The death toll is going to be too much for even him to ignore the way things are progressing there.
LOL. Exaggerate much??? The death rate from Covid in Florida is about one-tenth as much as it was 6 months ago. The total deaths from Covid in Florida are very similar to the national average... less than two-tenths of 1%. Do any of you people ever check the data or do any figuring before spouting all these lies? Or do you rely on CNN and the lamestream media to do your thinking for you?

All of you emotional people need to stop and take a deep breath and look at the facts rather than relying on the Dems and the lamestream media (pardon my redundancy) to do your thinking for you.
Florida has had 38,670 Covid deaths out of a population of about 21.5 million people. Do the math! That's about 1 death for every 550 people since the Covid virus hit about 18 months ago. It makes no sense to disrupt and ruin the lives of the other 549 people because of the death of 1 person. And now that the vaccine has proven so effective at preventing MOST deaths from Covid, we have to conclude that anyone who dies from Covid today is pretty much to blame for their own death.
So why penalize or ruin the lives of every 549 people because the 550th person was too stubborn to get the vaccine? Hell with them. Just bury them and move on. Everyone else has their life to live. Everyone has a choice to make. You make your choice and you live with it... or you die with it, as the case may be.
