The price we pay is no different than cancer, heart disease, malaria, etc. We all can't live in our basements and avoid diseases, in fact most of will refuse. Life is mine field full of bad options.
Life maybe full of mine fields, but we do have technology to deal with some of them and we have more options than to blindly run across an minefield and hope for the best.

In the case of cancer, you can screen for it. There is one vaccine for it. The HPV vaccine protects against a virus that is known the cause vaginal warts and it also causes vaginal cancer. Reducing sex partners reduces the chance of STD's of all kinds. Putting on sun tan lotion and limiting UV light reduces your chances for skin cancer and the sooner cancer is found the faster you can treat it increasing odds of survival.

We can address heart disease with diet, exercise, medications, surges, implants, and transplants but it is kind of hard to address them when the hospitals are filed with COVID patients and ICU rooms are unavailable.

Malaria is addressed by many things. There are vaccines under development one of which shows promise. Fighting mosquitos is the biggest thing. Humans are both the host to the parasite and the victim by reducing the number of people infected you reduce the number of people who can pass the parasite to the mosquitos that spread it. It goes beyond just waiting for a person to get ill and then treating them with drugs. Things like insect resistant nets have been shown to help. Finally there are drugs taken before going into an area with high risk that reduce the probability of getting infected.

So what makes masks and COVID different......

If they're not fit to be parents, Child Services needs to pay a visit to their homes. Otherwise, leave them alone.

Sounds like you want the government to take control. Hmmmm... is Freud at work here? or are you just don't know what Marxism is and how to recognize it.

Either way... parents, right, wrong or indifferent, are the only ones who should be parenting.

There is a reason why vaccines are mandatory in schools. It isn't just because they protect your child, but they help protect EVERYONE.

It is very simple. Masks like the ones doctors use when operating on patients and distance are the tools we have to use at moment for schools. Vaccines when they become available next.
Well stated and 100% accurate!

Bizarre?

You mean allowing the people in charge of running the place being able to make choices for their own building. No, that's called letting the boss make choices. The head of school in Key Largo should be able to make a different choice than the one in Jacksonville. The Gov. has no right to tell ALL heads of schools that they cannot require masks, it's up to the people in charge of the school, not the parents.

Please lets not have to talk about how masks work again and why it's important people wear them.

Agreed, and that's why this parent choosing what is best is BS and has lead to what is happening right now... more schools will be closed by this time next week.

That's what they said from the beginning. How did they know this so quickly about such a "novel" virus while supposedly getting the other information wrong because of it being a "novel" virus?
