He is a decorated naval officer and went to Harvard and Yale. He is certainly no dummy. He is empathetic and protects our freedoms. He has done a lot for the environment and the people of Florida. I am proud to call him our governor, and IMO, he is the best in the country. And the fact that he has the stones to take the unjust "heat" thrown his way makes me appreciate him even more.
He may be book smart but that doesn't mean he has common sense. I know many like that. Florida is now the epicenter of the fourth wave. You would think DeSantis would allow schools to have mask mandates since they can't get vaccinated yet. This is not about freedom, it's about protecting our kids. I can't believe parents don't want that. That man has no common sense and is an idiot.

With rapidly rising COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in Florida, Bay Area doctors are sounding the alarm for the least protected age group, children.

Experts think this upsurge in cases is largely due to the delta variant, which is more infectious than previous strains. Most infections are among those who are unvaccinated.

Florida leads the nation in kids hospitalized for COVID

The Sunshine State leads the nation in another alarming coronavirus statistic: Kids hospitalized with COVID-19. Florida had 32 pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations per day between July 24 and 30, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Adjusted for population, that’s 0.76 kids hospitalized per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the country. The Florida Department of Health reported 10,785 new COVID-19 infections among children under 12 between July 23 and 29. That’s an average of 1,540 new cases per day.

And DeSantis doesn't want to allow schools to require masks. How stupid!

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging Florida now is dramatically different in character from previous waves because the delta variant is putting many young people into intensive care, Florida Hospital Association President Mary Mayhew

“In Jacksonville, in one of our hospitals, their average age now is 42 years old. They have 25-year-olds who are in intensive care, on ventilators,” Mayhew told “Morning Joe” cohost Mika Brzezinski.

“Even among a lot of positive tests, you are seeing much less mortality that you did year-over-year,” DeSantis said at a Miami-area press conference. “Would I rather have 5,000 cases among 20-year-olds or 500 cases among seniors? I would rather have the younger.”

** However, 2,400 COVID-19 patients are in an intensive care unit, and deaths general don't spike until a few weeks after hospitalizations.

He knows in 3 weeks the deaths will come. But school be back and money making vacations will slow down. Health or wealth ?

Seems the biggest spike is in Broward county where a huge portion of Hispanics and Blacks live.

Fear has taken root, with the left when it comes to Gov. DeSantis. Why? logic, science and intelligence is the enemy of the ideological woke left.

Record breaking hospitalization numbers does suggest that Floridians are incapable of mitigating their own risks.

The data is easy to read and see what's-what. No doubt those without anti bodies or vaccinated are most likely to come down with covid.
