Yes, the lazy people, particularly politically partisan hacks, will only read news that fits their already preconceived bias. however, hose people are made into fools every day here, and blasted away at like fish in a barrel.
The NY Times is propaganda and they weaponize their Covid reporting to attack Republicans.
Look at their polling of the vaccinated. They severely under poll black, Hispanic, and millennial people so they can inflate the Democrats vaccinated percentage higher as a stick to bash Republicans with.
The same NYT that lied and willingly printed propaganda for the Nazis and Stalin, while they were committing genocide on their own people.

The NY Times knew that the USSR committed a holocaust killing 7 to 10 million in the early 1930s and sought to cover it up by discrediting the man who reported on it.
The NY Times reported on the Nazi Holocaust, but relegated the stories to the back, rarely called the victims Jews, but rather terms like displaced people and refugees as if the victims were random and not purposeful genocide.

I was told it was dangerous to run a piece about the origins of the coronavirus. There was resistance to running anything that could suggest that [COVID-19 was manmade or had leaked accidentally from a lab].’
The global pandemic was then in its early stages. Donald Trump was running for reelection and calling SARS-CoV-2 the ‘Chinese virus’. A few weeks later, Sir Richard Dearlove, the ex-head of Britain’s MI6 spy service agreed: ‘I subscribe to the theory…that it’s an engineered escapee from the Wuhan Institute [of Virology].’
Yet the Times, according to two well-placed sources, refused to investigate the biggest story of our time. Instead, senior editors are alleged to have suppressed efforts to probe the virus’s origins, and the Times led the charge to dismiss any questioning of the WHO’s now-discredited line as conspiracist or even ‘racist’.
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. U.S. media - and in particular the NYT - have been literal propaganda outlets since before anyone reading this was born, in all likelihood.
"Russians hungry, but not starving" was the headline, as millions were starving to death. That's just one drop from the fountain of lies coming from that rag.
