A Texas GOP official whose social media posts include anti-mask and anti-vaccine rhetoric has died from COVID-19.

In other Facebook posts from Apley, he showed support for mask burning and called incentives to encourage vaccinations “disgusting.”
And the wife is positive. Hope she doesn't become a fatal statistic so their son can grow up with at least his mother.

What’s the point of this? I’ll never understand how people think it helps to shame dead people on one side of the aisle for this. Do you think it’s helpful to the cause? Bunch of a-holes if you ask me.

Seeing as though he was such an ardent anti-vaxx/anti-mask kinda guy and quite vocal about it....

Gee I don't know...

This official actively attempted to dissuade people from taking COVID seriously. Just think of how many people followed him to the grave.

That's the point of this. People are dying and some elected official idiots continue to deny the severity of the issue.

Until they're dead and they can do no more harm.

I think it’s poor public health strategy to constantly blame only one segment of the anti-vaxxers while ignoring or excusing the other segments of the anti-vaxxers. Has there been one person posting about a black person who refused the vaccine and died of Covid? If so I haven’t seen it.

This strategy is surely not going to inspire people to get vaccinated. It’s just being an a-hole.

Anti-vaxxers are anti-vaxxers. I don't care if they are purple. If they are anti-vax they are part of the problem.

But elected officials who are anti-vax are in a special class of their own. They have the power and the influence to help end this pandemic but instead they are doing their best to prolong it and people are dying as a result. Like the idiot in the OP, which is what this thread is about. Try to stay on topic.

The deceased (in question) sure didn't mind 'blaming' a segment, did he?

And who cares about race? This is a public official. I don't care if they are black, white, orange or purple.. If you use your pulpit to rail against COVID, and then you DIE from it- well karma is just a hussy, ain't she?

It seems like there is a no story like this every week.

Some people make really dumb choices, really sad their families have to suffer for it.

45 years old. Sad for his baby that is now fatherless. The baby also has Covid.

Hoping the mother and baby get well soon from Covid.
