The ideal GOP family structure where the man is the bread winner and the wife stays home with the kids doing housework, cooking, cleaning, etc is out of reach with today's cost of living. Two incomes are necessary to make ends meet especially if kids are in the picture.

Meanwhile the GOP has no solutions for this other than tax cuts for the wealthy which they have been promising will "trickle down" to the common people for 40+ years now. Republicans decry declining birth rates, yet also oppose universal childcare and higher minimum wages. They say universal childcare isn't necessary since the mother should stay home with the children, but how do they expect her to afford it? Furthermore, the policies are very anti-children and assure many children will grow up in unstable, neglected environments. Republicans work to deny children nutritious school lunches for crying out loud. If you aren't wealthy, you literally cannot win under GOP policies.

Is this really the party of family values? In the good ole' 1950s, a white middle class man could support a wife and children on a single income, had job security with good benefits until the day he either retired or his job was shipped overseas.

The so-called “family values” that the GOP claims to espouse amount to little more than being anti-abortion and anti-gay.

Do you have any proof that republicans care about declining birth rates? I sure as hell don’t care about it. We have too many people as it is.

People too poor to afford children should not be breeding and the consequences of their bad/stupid/irresponsible decisions are not my problem, nor are they the problem of any other tax payer.

Your entire premise is a straw man.

As usual, you're painting conservatives as you see them through the lense of outdated, paranoid stereotyping.

I would love for someone to explain what is meant by "I'm the party of family values." I had someone say that to me and I was like....what?

He's one of those I hate conservatives types who will stereotype, lie, make up stories, bring up the past, etc. etc. anything to demonize us as an entire group they are that hate filled.

If anything, it is liberals that are whining about declining birth rates therefore they embrace immigrants coming here legal or illegal to pro-create on our soil.

So, are you telling me that family values include a gross lack of self-awareness? I say this because it is the reason I said "what?" when this person was trying to claim some moral high ground they had no business trying to do.

I agree with this and will say both sides do this.
