Like I indicated no one thought the Afghan Army would fold so rapidly, impossible to have an orderly withdrawal without any security force. Close to an army of 350,000 and hardly a single shot was fired, very telling about the motivation of the fighting force. If they left a months earlier or a years later this was inevitable, they could have done a better job planning for this in advance but I don't think they expected this. Tough to watch.
Actually SOS Blinkin said they knew it was a possibility but thought it was very unlikely. They should have planned the withdrawal with that possibility in mind. Instead of leaving people behind and hoping it did not happen.

People on the ground were warning they wouldn't fight. You can't form a western style military, government, and nation, from a tribal society like that. Our "leaders" simply have no understanding about how those people think over there. We should have had a large enough force of our own there ensuring an orderly withdrawal. Evacuate equipment, people, etc., not this chaos of leaving behind people and equipment.
It is a well-known fact that Santa Claus' logistical capabilities are second to none. If he had been in charge of this withdrawal, every American, and every allied Afghan, would have been evacuated before the Taliban could have even found Kabul on a map.
Unfortunately, we were stuck with Biden doing it instead. And the results speak for themselves.
It's doubtful any Administration is going to airlift Afghans who want to leave other then the wealthy connected ones. It was the same with Vietnam, Iraq. Remember the Kurds who got rid of ISIS we left them high and dry also it's the American way.
So if you're in a civil war for the $$$ only and you lose, the consolation prize is a free visa and transport to a nice American city? When you lose BIG, you lose BIG.
Them's the rules.
While the pictures are awful, why aren’t these people defending themselves, their country, their wives, children…?
Where’s this alleged military that these billions were supposed to be building?
That's what I've been wondering too. Most of the people I saw in the video were young men. Why weren't they out there fighting against the Taliban? Why wouldn't they defend their country? Heck, why wouldn't they defend their women? It's the women who should have been at the airport while their men held off the Taliban long enough to let them escape. But no.
Honestly, the more I see of Afghans and their culture, the more disgusted I get. They had the opportunity to come into the modern world and they completely rejected it. So now they're going to find out what life is like when Uncle Sugar isn't there to protect them. And I would say that a whole lot of those "men" deserve what they're about to get.
It's kinda weird that so many on here "wanted us to stay in Afghanistan longer " and does not understand Trump had wanted this all to come to an end, back in May 2021.
It was never going to be a perfect ending to a 20 year-long war.
Retired army captain Matt Zeller gives his two cents on Biden’s speech and lack of action to save Americans and Afgans.
