We spent twenty years and over a trillion dollars to build up the Aghan military and state and it collapsed in eleven days. And then you added this to your third sentence “ he's also an excellent example why troops are troops.”
troops are troops and generals are generals because one leads in war and the other follows orders.
O'Neill is just a soldier who left the service and then went around running his mouth to make as much money as he could. Notice how all his fellow service members don't substantiate his claims and remain silent.
I wouldn't be taking his opinion on how leaders should react seriously. He's probably just looking to score some more speaking fees.
