Missing from your timeline is the disappearance of the Afghan Military around mid-August, I know that's just a minor oversight.
That's Biden's timeline, not mine...c'mon man.
it's missing from Zhoe Biden's scenario because he doesn't know what he's doing generally and what is going on in Afghanistan in particular.
Mid-August, when the Taliban took over in a matter of days and we ended up with a scenario worse then Saigon 1975...uh, that's a timeline guarantee Biden said wouldn't happen. Biden knew the whole time the Afghan military wasn't capable to stepping-up.
Sadly, everyone, including Biden knew the Afghan military was useless...apparently you're still in denial that Biden is incompetent and we're only 7 months in with this guy.
"An explanation and analysis"... from a leftist opinion writer. yawn.
Funny, how our Leftist members have become military strategist all of a sudden. They should stick with Collin Kapernik and wear Castro T-shirts and tell us how great Communist countries are
I admit I haven't really been closely following the whole withdrawal from Afghanistan thing the past year or so. I think I was just so tired of hearing about it and nothing being done year after year, that I just put it on the backburner. So it came as a surprise to me when all of a sudden one day, I see the news about people desperate to get out of Kabul and crowding that entire area for a chance to fly out.
So my initial reaction was, finally, get the hell out of that country, about time. But when the suicide bombing happened, it really opened my eyes to the reality of what has been happening since Biden took office. It really is shocking how this entire debacle was handled.

Nah, the esteemed strategists/armchair generals on this thread have suggested that the evacuations should had been out of Bagram instead of Kabul

Indeed. Terrorists routinely salt the roads with IED's. Unless we're using choppers to airlift to Bagram, lots more likely to be killed driving - like so many of our servicemen have.

Leaving Bagram was how the ISIS prisoners were released.
Quote:
Thousands of inmates, including former Islamic State and al-Qaeda fighters, were released from a prison on the outskirts of Kabul — Pul-e-Charkhi — as well as another facility at Bagram airbase as the Taliban called for a "peaceful transition" of power.
Afghan government troops surrendered Bagram airbase, located north of Kabul, to the Taliban early on Sunday. The base houses Parwan Detention Facility, which had around 5,000 prisoners.
