But the whole purpose of masks is to put them on in a sterile environment with clean hands and use a fresh one every time. Wearing one while you’re waiting to be seated for outdoor dining and then taking it off 20 feet later to stuff your mouth with food only makes you look like a tool
Additionally if the coronavirus is so scary and deadly than I question why we would even need to be out in society everything should be closed and locked down to save every life
I honestly don’t care. It’s that slippery slope thing that troubles me, are we going to start demanding people wear them during flu season? I was hospitalized, including a few days in ICU, with the flu in 2018. That same year 808,000 were also admitted to hospitals in the US strictly with the flu but the CDC estimates that it probably contributed to between 621,000–1,357,000 hospitalizations. It was a bad flu year and over 61,000 Americans had that listed as their cause of death. The CDC estimates that year flu contributed to the deaths of between 46,000–95,000 additional deaths with such causes as cardiac failure, diabetes, and strokes. Not only that, 172 children died specifically from the flu, although it is estimated that it contributed to the deaths of three to four times that number who had serious chronic illnesses.
We need to start treating Covid like the flu. My fear is that instead there will be those who demand we treat the flu in the future like we have Covid.
I am done with masks except in certain specific places, such as health care facilities or nursing homes. Notice I didn’t add schools to that list.
