I can reach only one logical conclusion. He wants us Texans to get sick and die. That includes the kids, which now comprise 19% of cases, since no one is permitted to issue mask mandates, not even school districts, and masks are the one simple step that slows the spread of the virus more than anything else if a person can't be vaccinated. Now Abbott is seeking the assistance from other states to combat the spread of the virus that were directly the result of his legal threats. What happened to the GOP mantra refusing outside help? "Leave it up the states. We know best," they say. Until they mess up. Then they plead for help. Other states have their own problems and mask mandates and the states with high numbers are, surprise surprise, TX and FL, the only states without these.

Some school districts have decided to face the legal consequences and issue mask mandates anyway to protect their kids, especially since virtual learning is not an option in most districts (because of an executive order issued by Abbott requiring an in-person learning option in all districts no matter how bad the virus gets.) Good for them.

Umm...if he wants us to die, he wouldn't have asked for help.

You know who's not giving us help? The feds. Not only are they not giving help, but they are making things worse by allowing illegals with COVID to roam free.

So spare the fake angst about Abbott.

The feds can directly make an impact by closing the border. That would reduce our direct COVID exposure immediately.

Nah...people will get sick, build up herd immunity, and we move on with life. Good for Texas.

He would have instituted a mask mandate right away. Why didn't he? It's very simple. Wear a mask. Not hard, saves lives. After all, we're so great and can take care of ourselves. Oh wait, we can't. Had he done this, we wouldn't need help from other states now.

Then it is a sign of his incompetence.

They made the bed, they should lie in it.

A no mask mandate policy doesn't mean people can't wear masks. It only means they don't have to. If we can have mask mandates what other things can we mandate? Eating peas and broccoli? Walking 3 miles a day? Taking the stairs instead of the elevator?

Haven't you figured out that there is no such thing as natural herd immunity with regard to this virus? You and your nincompoop leadership have been operating under a flawed premise from day one, and it has unnecessarily cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

When are you people going to wake up?

At this point, mostly just right wing whackos are dying. You people are killing yourselves. We ought to let you just do it.

Don't know what's up with that site, but I don't get anything other than the headline and a bunch of ads. Second time someone's linked to it and I've run across this. Two different browsers; same result.

Either they use Facebook servers to host their actual content (all FB domains are blocked at my network edge, along with known spam/advertising domains), or something else is wonky with their site.
