Dr Fauci asked Americans to give up our personal freedoms to fight the pandemic. We know now that the pandemic will never end. Dr Fauci knows we will never get back anything that we give up because this is a never ending virus. Not even yearly 100% vaccination will stop it.

We were promised the 9/11 measures would be temporary but twenty years later almost all are now permanent. Nobody protests those anymore. Covid will likely be the same. The only way to prevent it is to push back and make sure we are not dragged into yet another endless war. Sadly I think after their 15th booster shot most will be scared to even imagine a world where they were not dependent on the govt for their yearly dose.

Young kids soon wont even know or remember what a world without masks, social distancing, lockdowns and yearly vaccines is like.

Don’t be so dramatic. Japan is reasonably analogous to the United States as far as population density. They have routinely worn masks for several years now. Japan has roughly 1/3 the population of the U.S., but they have had 15,000 deaths from covid compared to our 618,000, or 2-1/2% the death rate. Masks work. Complaining about masks does not.

COVID is not a political illness. It is a major health threat that doesn’t care who you vote for or whether you believe in it or not. Get vaccinated and wear your mask, and be thankful you still can. Also, if there is a better proposal to fight it, please don’t keep it a secret. Thanks.

Stop being overly dramatic.

We the people choose to accept it in exchange for (real or perceived) safety

But it obviously worked because there has been no such attack successful in domestic terrorism using planes in the 20 years since then. You don't think Bin Laden didn't try again before he got two between the eyes?

Either way we have chosen it because the benefit outweighs the cost. True freedom doesn't exist. It's only an illusion. Many Americans would not want the "free" short lives of our ancestors...

There is absolutely no evidence to support this preposterous claim.

Japan is also an island with no porous land borders like we do in the US (8893 miles in the norther border and 2000 miles in the southern border) . I don't think Japan is experiencing an influx of 100k-200k of illegal aliens pouring into their country each month.

Find another example

I don't understand the problem, or why we would have to lock down.

Virtually ALL (99% or so) of the people who catch COVID and get sick enough to be hospitalized (or worse) are vaccinated, so if you are vaccinated you are at more of a risk from regular daily activities (like driving a car). Nothing in this world is risk-free. We certainly didn't mask up for the flu, even though there is a minute chance of catching and dying from that as well.

Those who choose to remain unvaccinated? Well, that's their choice, and I support their freedom to decide for themselves. Where I draw the line is when I am told to mask up because I might get them sick. Why should the onus be on me? It was their decision to leave themselves vulnerable.

Here's an example to think about: you have a son or daughter in high school who for some reason cannot get the vaccine (or doesn't want to). Their teacher, who is age 32 and loves to party, doesn't believe in vaccinations and is out every other night at bars, etc., with her friends, also unvaccinated. She catches Covid but doesn't show any symptoms. She brings it into her classroom and infects all 30 kids, including yours. Some die, because the Delta variant is as deadly as the original, but more infectious.

What solutions would you propose in this situation?
