COVID is not a political illness. It is a major health threat that doesn’t care who you vote for or whether you believe in it or not. Get vaccinated and wear your mask, and be thankful you still can. Also, if there is a better proposal to fight it, please don’t keep it a secret. Thanks.
Yes, and Japan is such a diverse society isn't it as well as huge in land area? Not to mention having a culture that stresses individual freedom and resisting improper authority.

covid has been politicized here in the US.

9/11 "temporary" restrictions are still in force today....renewed annually by Congress.

As they say:

"Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me"

I sense a major segue in the Force. Either that, or you could possibly be posting in the wrong thread.

Care to elaborate, or are you maybe suggesting the United States should outlaw fast food...?

Those powers get renewed and no one blinks an eye. It's infuriating.

Japan has @ 1/3 the population of the U.S. on less than 4% of the land mass. Japanese culture does what is best for society at large. Citizens have worn masks for several years because of the air quality and the risk of influenza and other easily transmitted diseases. The masks have been proven to work. Google their covid deaths for yourself.

America is a wonderful place. You have the freedom choose to kill yourself through suicide by negligence if you so desire. All freedoms come with responsibilities. My take is that the ones who choose not to wear masks in the name of some undefined "freedom" are really just children who don't like having any responsibility. "Responsible citizen" is not just a collection of pretty words.

What solutions would you propose in this situation?
Vaccinated people can also catch covid and spread covid. This vaccine w does not stop transmission. Look at Gibraltar and Iceland and Israel, all highly vaccinated con tires with high case counts.

Kids have a 99.995% survival rate. The idea that an unvaccinated teacher might kill a bunch of kids in her class is hyperbole at best.

According to the CDC a vaccinated person can still spread COVID so what guarantee is there that even if she was vaccinated that the same thing wouldn't happen?

What if the teacher had the flu or the dozens of other respiratory viruses that COULD also be just as fatal to some?

What if the teacher got the vaccine and one had a "rare" side effect and ended up dying?

What if instead of the teacher that loves to the party coming to school after a night out, decided to drive drunk on the way home and run down a family of 5 crossing the street?

If you play the "What If" game you will end up wearing a mask from the time you get up in the morning, until the time you go to bed. Having everything sent to you, and not stepping 10 feet from your house except to get the next "booster" shot the Government says you need or you will die.

Wearing masks does not protect you from catching this virus. Follow the science.

Your household dog or cat, and the birds in the trees can be hosts for this virus. Hey Fauci, shall we vaccinate our pets and forest animals?
