Every action has an equal an opposite reaction... That law of physics generally applies in human interactions, too. They're not going to throw up their hands and say, "Our economy and therefore our existence is under attack, but oh well. It was fun." They're going to retaliate.
Seems like you are saying cower to China, we are no match for them.
We are both nuclear powers. We have done all sorts of economic sanctions against Russia they have not attacked us. Why? We are both nuclear powers. And China has tried to undermine us for years. Stealing intellectual property, devaluing their currency to make their products cheaper here. Our whole rust belt exists because companies went elsewhere, mostly to China and we did nothing about it.
If the attack the US with their military or launch a nuke. Its over for them. No more China. Our nuclear capability is still much better than theirs. They know that.
News coming out today that the former CDC director got death threats from other "scientists" as he was interested in pursuing the lab leak theory. WTH? Looks like some have a lot to hide...
Former CDC Director Redfield Says He Was ‘Threatened’ over Support for COVID Lab-Leak Theory
Redfield added, “I think I’m very disheartened when I have seen how the scientific community failed to approach both hypotheses with an open mind….I mean I was very rapidly sidelined, threatened and really sort of outed because I believed as a virologist that this virus may have come from the laboratory.”
Redfield received death threats from other scientists in March 2021 after he told CNN that he believed the coronavirus leaked from a lab, Vanity Fair reported in June.

I agree with you in principle, but the MBA/investor "class" long ago sold our production capabilities for many key items overseas to the Chinese and others, mostly out of pure greed based on profits. We can't just flick the switch now and gain all that production power back. It definitely needs to be strengthened but this is a multi-year initiative. It isn't just TV's and microwaves, it's a lot of important stuff.
Concentrating on particular countries is a distraction, it's the technology that's the issue.
With advances in this technology, it's possible that the individual could become as much of a threat as the State, or terrorist group.
That is probably how this whole humans inhabiting the earth thing might end, if its not some weaponized virus. I never thought Kim in N. Korea was ever going to do anything nuclear. He has a great life, better than almost anyone in the world. He is not going to do something to provoke us or S. Korea to take him out. But he has the threat of nuclear weapons so we just leave him alone.
If technology gets to the point an individual can produce a weapon that can kill thousands or millions of people its only a matter of time until someone does just that. Like the Unibomber but on a much more massive scale. If they have nothing to lose and are angry at the world, those are the scary ones.
No I said Chinese nationals. You understand the difference between that and American citizens of Chinese decent? Chinese nationals are Chinese citizens not American citizens.
Of course I understand the difference. That's why I asked a separate question. You already stated where you stand on assets of Chinese nationals. So why would I ask about that again?
You didn't really answer my question. But it sounds like you want to say "No" to seizing assets of American citizens of Chinese decent?

No we should not be seizing money from American citizens no matter what beef we might have with a country they happen to come from or their ancestors did.
