I saw a report (can't find it any more) where "unnamed sources" in the Pentagon said they did not execute the exit plan with sufficient urgency -- possibly as a deliberate delay tactic to force Biden's hand -- because they were certain Biden would reverse Trump's withdrawal order once he got the full situational intelligence briefings, and they were wrong. As with any story based on "unnamed sources," take it for what it's worth, but it's a plausible explanation. Regardless, someone at the Pentagon needs to be sacked and stripped of his pension.

The Afghans have US made weapons, and I have no doubt that the Taliban have seized some of them. But there are no caches of “US weapons” left behind.

There certainly aren’t any Predators, Reapers, or Global Hawks left behind. There might have been some handheld drones left behind and given to the Afghans, sort of like what you can buy from the internet.

Someone said this but I can't remember who..."The jury is still out. But the likelihood there's going to be a Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely."

Biden said that. Well, to be honest he didn’t really think it. He just parroted those words that his staff fed him. Joe doesn’t really even understand what is happening in Afghanistan right now.

And Biden just went on a two week vacation. Even Obama didn’t go on vacation when Benghazi embassy had 4 Americans killed.

Today’s Wall Street journal had another long article on Afghanistan, vs the dribble from most news sources.

And they sum it up with “20 years of fighting has been lost in a matter of a couple weeks”. The fact that this thread cannot be on current events but “only” politics is tragic. Possibly the military forum can host a thread on just covering the impact of an emergency evacuation of Afghanistan.
It’s not about whose policies failed but “what is currently going on in Afghanistan?”.

Every president in the last 20 years if not more has inadvertantly allowed US military weapons to get into the hands of people who have threatened to use them against us. This is not unique to Biden.

At some point the cycle needs to be broken. Preferably by not sending so many weapons overseas to begin with.

We've been selling/granting weapons to the Afghanistan Security Forces for quite some time. We go over there and train them, etc. All for their defense against the Taliban. We do this for other countries also. Unfortunately, when the "enemy" takes over, the weapons we sold them for defense are taken also.

The question is, the Afghan forces have been trained to defend and fight back. They don't seem to be doing much of that.

Biden's "Fast and Furious". I guess they never heard of "scuttling" any useable equipment before retreating??

Taliban Seizes Massive Stash of US Weapons of War in Afghanistan Blitz

The Taliban has seized a massive stash of US-made armaments and drones as they head for Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul.

As this is going on, Joe Biden has left the White House to begin a two-week summer vacation in Delaware.

Imagine JFK sailing during the Cuban missile crisis, I know Biden could not hold JFK’s jock strap but “come on man” act the part
The very same thing happened in all the other ME countries we invaded/tried to invade.
We left our stuff there and the extremists took control of them.

What does this have to do with an FBI sting operation that went bad as those things often do?
