Representative Barbera Lee was the only person in Congress to vote against the Afghanistan war. This was her speech... (Iran, Iraq)

So don't defend yourself when attacked? Cowardly. Get the attackers, bring our troops home and stop violating the rights of sovereign countries and their people.

I remember this. She was one of the few reasoned voices back then. Everyone else was knee-jerk reacting based on emotion, which I understood, but taking a step back was wise advice.
At the start I subscribed to the good war-bad war distinction between Afghanistan and Iraq. However after UBL was killed we should have left Afghanistan. When that didn't happen I soured on the whole endeavor.
Iraq was a disaster from the start and should never have occurred. But if we hadn't started a war in Afghanistan then invading Iraq would never have happened. Now I know why the war against the Taliban was started - as a precondition for another war against Iraq and eventually Iran.
The whole idea of expanding empire into the Middle East is just crazy. The costs FAR outweigh the benefits.
I consider George W. Bush a war criminal and the worst president of the postwar era.
All you silly pacifists think you know diddly about foreign policy. You dont. We were attacked on 911 because we were perceived as being unwilling to fight back. Youre damn right we went into afghanistan and kicked some ass. Then when al qaeda fled the country to Iran we laid a trap for them in iraq and killed thousands of foreign born jihadists. Additionally we could not continue the policies which angered al qaeda and justified their attacks and knew saddam could not be trusted as he was making overtures to invade KSA. And owed them greatly for propping up the dollar which saddam was attempting to upset.
This would have all ended well had we left Trump in office. The Taliban respected him, Biden is turning the US into the worlds punching bag.

War criminal. Cite the code he is in violation of and issuing and enforcement authority.
Oh we know you cant. Hes a criminal! What crime? We dont know, but we say hes a criminal.
The war in Iraq was launched pursuant to US public law 107-243. How can the war be a crime?
Furthermore our actions were allowed within the UN charter, article 51. Which states nothing in the charter prevents a nation state or agents contracted by them to act im their own self defense. We were contracted by KSA and Kuwait, both of which were attacked and invaded by Iraq. UN1441 stated it was saddams final chance for peaceful disarment. When Blix determined on march 7 2003 in his interim report that Saddam was irrevocably in breach of 1441 and France subsequently declared veto intent over further actions, Bush was required under the terms of public law 107-243:to attack Iraq..
She opposed a resolution about taking "all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001." She didn't even know what form it would take, she just opposed it. She was not opposing a taking action against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Do a little research before you start a thread.
...well, if anything...the lesson of the taliban in afghanistan is that your enemy can be stronger than you, wealthier than you, more technologically advanced than you, backed by every modern institution on earth...and yet, you can still outlast your enemy by simply not quitting...
