I see quite a few apartment ads stating 'no Section 8'.
An individual landlord can refuse to participate ( although several cities have laws against "income source discrimination") however a jurisdiction cannot ban affordable housing if it takes money from HUD.

There are several lawsuits going on now where the DOJ has charged cities with discrimination for failing to have affordable housing.

Section 8 is great idea for disable and elderly people who really need it, but people do abuse it a lot.Goverment has to be more selective who to give section 8 and make to expection process more serious. If you have section 8 and SSI its kind of make me wonder where you get the money to afford nice car ( not on you name of coaurse) and the luxury leather furniture with plasma TV?

It happens all the time in the Twin Cities. The little town of Lake Elmo was against hooking up the the Met Council's sewer system. So the Met Council did a study and determined that Lake Elmo was the perfect spot for a giant Sect 8 housing complex that would have ruined the town.

So Lake Elmo agreed to connect to the sewer system and the plans for the Sec 8 housing went away.

True story.

I believe there should be a long list of requirements to live in Gov Housing. Drug testing, and parental monitoring and holding the adults 100% responsible for the actions of their underage kids. And this housing should be away from the cities on their own location and strictly controlled. If you don't like it. then don't have 6 kids with no way to pay for them and stay in school and learn some skills so you can support yourself.

These 'stats' that you speak of reflect your own prejudice more than they reflect reality. How unfortunately hateful and ignorant it is to perpetuate these stereotypes.

Ah yes social programs the conservatives rail about, and yet none of which actually know someone on the program.
