Meh, I don't care to have yet another "progressive vs flat vs consumption" tax debate. It changes nothing at the end of the day.

Feel free to carry on without me, though.

Wow, that is disgusting and unjust. All citizens need to pay for their government.

Exactly. But that's always the answer for libs.

We absolutely need a VAT so we tax all citizens equally and fairly.

Yep. In 2019, 44 % of Americans made 18000 USD or less.

Almost half of all Americans work in low-wage jobs

This is why we have a moral duty to limit the right to vote. It is wrong for people to be able to vote to take money from others.

61% of U.S. households paid no federal income tax last year

The majority of U.S. households paid no federal income taxes in 2020, a spike driven by the pandemic-induced economic downturn and multiple rounds of tax-based assistance. The trend is likely to continue in 2021.

Nearly 107 million households — or 61% of U.S. households — owed no federal income taxes in 2020, according to estimates by The Tax Policy Center, marking a 40% increase from 2019 when 43.6% of households didn’t pay taxes..
Anybody have a problem with Bezos not paying tax for a coupla years?
https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff...-report-2021-6
"In 2007, and again in 2011, billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos reportedly paid nothing in federal income taxes."

Lots of billionaires don't pay much in federal income tax. I don't think the working or non-working poor are the problem.

That's why a VAT is the most fair tax. Everyone pays according what they buy. Bezos presumably had no taxable income those years. I bet he still bought a lot of things.
