Who didn't see this coming?

I heard a report earlier this week that New York State is requiring all medical workers be vaccinated - NO EXEMPTIONS. According to the report, 25% of them have not gotten the shot.

Guess what will happen when a lot of them quit....

Massive Nurse Shortage Hits Houston—Weeks After 150 Unvaccinated Nurses and Hospital Workers Fired

Quote:
Bridges was one of more than 150 hospital workers fired by Houston Methodist hospital.
Quote:
KHOU-11, a local news station, says medical tents have been erected outside of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital but are vacant because of a shortage of nurses.
Quote:
While most media reports focus on LBJ Hospital, reports also make it clear other hospitals, including Houston Methodist, are experiencing similar struggles. The Houston Chronicle says Harris Health System (which includes LBJ) is short some 250 nurses, while the University of Texas Medical Branch has requested an additional 100 nurses to help address staff shortages at four hospitals.
Quote:
As for Houston Methodist, the hospital is reportedly struggling as well—although they’ve yet to admit it publicly.
Quote:
Some may be tempted to think Houston Methodist was able to quickly replace the workers they lost, but evidence suggests this is unlikely. Apart from the broader shortage, front line nurses “are burned out,” they say.

“We are all tired of this; nurses are tired of this,” Texas Nurses Association CEO Cindy Zolnierek wrote in a recent public letter.

Head of Alaska nursing home association says Biden’s vaccine requirement could cause workers to quit

Quote:
The head of Alaska’s nursing home association says that a federal requirement that nursing homes mandate their employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 could worsen the state’s already stretched hospital capacity.

Most of the nurses worked through the busiest Covid period when there were no treatments or jabs, many got Covid.

No common sense on the Loony Left.

The next thing I suspect that we will hear is that the nurses that were fired are the reason for the shortage and they should be held responsible for any deaths that happen.

Interesting, huh??

The headline implies that the number of patients far exceeds the ability of the staff to handle it.

Of course, they fail to mention that quite a few of their staff were fired or resigned due to THEIR own policies.

What a farce!

Yes, and I posted this on another thread that received almost zero attention:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/biden-t...tics_lead_pos5

From link, my italics:

HEADLINE: "Biden Tells Nursing Homes to Vaccinate Staffs to Keep Medicare, Medicaid Funds"

"President Biden said his administration will require nursing homes to vaccinate their staff against Covid-19 or risk losing Medicare and Medicaid funding.
[snip]

"The White House said the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services would draft the new requirements, which could take effect as early as next month and would affect more than 15,000 nursing homes that employ roughly 1.3 million workers."
[snip]

Here is the thread that contains more info, if anyone is interested. https://www.city-data.com/forum/poli...s-funding.html
