Then why do they think mandates will work now? Chicago I read is imposing a mask mandate this week. If the cases went up last year with a mask mandate when there wasn’t a vaccine, how would it help now when their is a vaccine?
The liberal elite like to pretend they have everything under control and if us common people would just do what they tell us, we would all be better off. Just trust them.
Honestly I do think they have some level of effectivness if used properly, I just think they should be a last resort or voluntary and not forced. Literally 1% of the population around me masks up for even at Costco....I have to believe some of the lefties who talk about masking up are part of the shoppers but they don't want to do it unless they and everyone else are forced. They have a very collective mentality.

The CDC, beginning in late October, began urging people to not gather over the extended holiday period. Tens of millions of households chose to ignore the CDC and gathered with friends and family and did not mask up or distance. No surprise Covid surged throughout the US. And too many households now can tell the “ remember the Thanksgiving dinner where we killed grandma?” or “the Christmas we put mom and dad in the hospital with Covid”.
Most masks, at best, help protect others from the wearer’s respiratory droplets. I live in an area with frigid winters. It is common to see one’s own and other people’s condensed breath- respiratory droplets upon every exhale. A simple sneeze become a spectacular display. When one wears a mask, the condensation is mitigated or eliminated, depending on duration.
There is a growing hodge- podge of mask mandates throughout the US particularity at the county and municipal level. Several states have mandated state employee and/ or teacher/ students mask up. And this is not limited to blue states.
Then there’s states recommending masking up when distancing is not possible.
Nearly all hospitals and medical offices are once again requiring masks, regardless of location.
I will be very surprised to see the degree of restrictions that were common in 2020 reimposed anywhere.
Masks and social distancing serve the same purpose. One or the other. Masks are compliance theater, nothing more. Carry a handkerchief and social distance and there's no reason whatsoever to wear a mask in most situations. But nobody's suggesting that. They want compliance.
Can't people see where this is headed? Why are so many so utterly blind to what's happening to them? How they're being transformed? It's mind boggling. People used to value their freedom in this country. Now, they're giving it up COMPLETELY over a new bug that just isn't that bad, and which was apparently created by the very people using it to strip you of your freedom. Hello? Anyone home?
We have over 18 months of real world experience and data that prove to anyone with a room temperature IQ that cloth masks are worthless.
The panicked will still cling to them like Linus clings to his binkie, but it doesn't change the fact that if you can breathe through it you can get a virus through it.
There is not a single masked super spreader event. Not a single one. Zero. Not even the Obama birthday party that the right-wing tried to claim spread Covid but disproved by officials.
Meanwhile, there were NUMEROUS maskless super spreader event - from the cult chuch in South Korea to the Rose Garden massacre that infected the POTUS, the first lady, the SCOTUS, and a legion of Republican officials.
Also, we practically eliminated the flu from the most recent flu season.
