Because the US leads the developed world in ACTUAL incarceration of its citizens, in ACTUAL state sponsored executions, in ACTUAL fatal encounters with law enforcement and the National Guard, in ACTUAL curfews and restrictions on its juvenile population, in ACTUAL false imprisonment of innocent people, and with ACTUAL prison camps where inmates are held in ACTUAL tents, and ACTUAL length of custodial sentences.
There are more people imprisoned in America than anywhere else in the world.
A quarantine facility where someone is temporarily housed while infectious with a disease is nothing compared to human rights violations you as a country commit on a daily basis.
And it is not a concentration camp, I’m sure our lauded returned veterans who spent time in prison camps in South East Asia would vehemently and vigorously disagree with your vile categorisation.

You already have to quarantine for 14 days in a hotel, which is not up to the task of keeping people safe, when you arrive from overseas. Most of our outbreaks can be traced back to hotel quarantine.
Quarantine is not prison, no matter how many times you say it.
And we will go back to normal, meanwhile we don’t want hundreds and thousands of deaths in our country.
The incoming traveller quarantine rules will eventually be relaxed, as we figure out how to live with Covid, and as more of the population is vaccinated.
A purpose built quarantine facility is a good idea, who knows what’s coming down the pike? Another Ebola outbreak? Something worse?
If you can't leave, then it is a prison. Maybe not a prison with cinderblock cells and bars, but still, you can't leave. An internment facility of any type, other than an actual prison for criminals who have been given a trial is a bad idea. Human beings should not be locked up without due process of law. Why are people okay with isolating people without any kind of due process? I don't care if this is Australia, the US or Zimbabwe...it's not a good idea.
If you want to know what happens when more of the population is vaccinated, look at Israel. Lots of Covid.
I thought Europe and blue state America were crazy with Covid rules but Australia and NZ take it to a whole new level.

They brought back the firing squads in May, 2021. You’re actually going to make prisoners on death row choose between that or the electric chair.
