I am a mask wearer. N95 mask specifically. I also wear gloves when shopping. I take all the steps I feel are best for "ME".

Now I listen to some people foaming at the mouth about how 5 & 6 year olds need to be forced to wear masks, but those people never stop to think about what type of mask.

Cloth masks, which are what most wear in schools, do absolutely nothing to help and science data has shown it can actually make things worse by shredding the virus into smaller particles.

Here is the simple fact and solution. N95 masks are the one and only mask to wear. If your kid wears an N95 mask, it protects THEM to the max. It matters not what any other kids next to them does. They will be protected because the virus cannot reasonably make it through that type of mask. Problem solved for your kid.

So for the pro forcing little kids to wear masks crowd, why is it more important to you for little kids to be forced to wear improper and harmful cloth masks, rather than having your own kid wear a proper, effective N95 mask that will protect them?

Just what, uh, wasn't the vax supposed to make masking unnecessary!?!?!?!??

When the vax-rate reaches 90%, we are still going to be requiring
masking.

That they did get wrong. They thought vaxed people were safe. They are not. What I do get is covid survivors and vaxed both, may do well for awhile. God help us.

Masks: There is still little to no scientific evidence for the effectiveness of cloth face masks in the general population, and the introduction of mandatory masks couldn’t contain or slow the epidemic in most countries. If used improperly, masks may increase the risk of infection.
Children and schools: In contrast to influenza, the risk of disease and transmission in children is rather low in the case of covid. There was and is therefore no medical reason for the closure of elementary schools or other measures specifically aimed at children.

There is increasing evidence that the novel coronavirus is transmitted, at least in indoor settings, not only by droplets but also by smaller aerosols. However, due to their large pore size and poor fit, most masks cannot filter out aerosols (see video analysis below): over 90% of aerosols penetrate or bypass the mask and fill a medium-sized room within minutes.

In the US state of Kansas, the 90 counties without mask mandates had lower coronavirus infection rates than the 15 counties with mask mandates. To hide this fact, the Kansas health department tried to manipulate the official statistics and data presentation.

And more here. Video is most entertaining, N95 including

It depends on the type of the mask.
Many Americans just use some cloth.

I actually do those 2 things as well...

But, I've read the studies that claim the masks don't do much of anything - and I believe it. But, I still wear one, wear gloves when I touch stuff, and do the best I can.

You're right. But you also do not understand the leftist reasoning and philosophy of a "mask."

The left has no interest in a mask that protects the wearer (obviously, since cloth masks do not and are likely harmful to the wearer in the long term). A mask that protects the wearer is an individual measure. That doesn't fly with the left. The left is collective. And by wearing a mask that protects the wearer, you are denying the leftist the opportunity to virtue signal and browbeat those who do not wear masks because they, then, have nothing to do with protecting the leftist--only his or her own mask would.

In the leftist fantasy world, the cloth mask protects all those around the wearer, but not the wearer. That is PERFECTLY dovetailed with the leftist philosophy of collectivism. It gives them a reason to bully others and tell them they don't give a **** about anyone around them if they don't have a mask on. It also gives them cause for crying "victim" when they see someone else without a mask on.

If we were going with N95 masks, the leftist could not bellyache about anyone else not having a mask because his or her own mask would be his or her OWN protection... and that takes everyone else around them out of the loop. A no-go for the leftist.

I'm glad to see some of this is making it through the Leftist Curtain.

Much of it had been "disappeared" last summer and fall.
