One of the men responsible for the deaths of many US servicemen ..in the bombing of Pearl Harbour. why wasnt he jailed.

What happened to Admiral Husband Kimmel?
He was removed from that command after the attack, in December 1941, and was reverted to his permanent two-star rank of rear admiral due to no longer holding a four-star assignment. He retired from the Navy in early 1942.

The US Navy ship’s captain reported the incident to the Pacific fleet chief, Admiral Husband Edward Kimmel. Kimmel took the event lightly and failed to alert the pacific fleet docked in Pearl Harbor. In a few hours, half of the US Pacific Fleet came under attack.

Can you say FDR? You know, the same bozo that turned a mild recession into the Great Depression, and then illegally incarcerated Americans of Japanese descent.

A president whose working motto was "Fooled 'em again". A true disgrace.

We ski Mammoth in CA a lot. And immediately after PH, General Dargue was on his way to investigate.

Common factor in all incidents - FDR.

“Burden of Command”.

I don’t feel it was Kimmel’s fault at all.

But even if it isn’t your fault, it’s still your responsibility. That’s why Kimmel was relieved of command.

What’s ironic is that Kimmel’s predecessor, Admiral Richardson, was relieved of command by FDR because he objected to froward basing the Pacific Fleet at Hawaii instead of hanging out in San Diego.

It was FDR’s decision to base at Pearl, yet it was Kimmel’s fault that the Japanese bombed Pearl?

If you want to equate that with the current situation in Afghanistan, the burden of command will come for someone. Not sure yet how high the axe will hit.

But we all know Biden, like FDR was, is 100% at fault for the chaos in Afghanistan.

Will Biden be impeached for dereliction of duty? He should be, but FDR escaped blame for Pearl, so Biden will too. Unfortunately.

Kimmel is probably the least at fault for Pear Harbor, however, he is the responsible party being in charge and all.

It is clear you have read little to nothing about this. I am sure the history threads on this site have a huge amount of reading material for you.

People are not jailed unless there is a crime committed, so you would need to demonstrate what crime Kimmel committed that the investigation after Pearl Harbor did not discover.

Pearl harbor was a screw up starting with FDR, top officials and military leaders all had a hand in it, including Kimmel, but to make Kimmel (and General Short) the only guilty party alluding to criminal gross negligence on their part, is ridiculous. It reeks of the Soviet mentality of "there always must be a guilty party to punish".

Personally, I'd be looking at Japan.

A lot of Monday morning quarterbacking after Pearl Harbor.

Keep in mind that even the guy that designed the attack didn't want to start an unwinnable war with the US.

They caught the Brits by surprise too fyi.
