I know that there are several threads about the situation in Afghanistan, but I found this article to have a unique perspective from someone who has been there, done that.

What we are seeing in Afghanistan right now shouldn’t shock you. It only seems that way because our institutions are steeped in systematic dishonesty. It doesn’t require a dissertation to explain what you’re seeing. Just two sentences.

One: For 20 years, politicians, elites and D.C. military leaders lied to us about Afghanistan.

Two: What happened last week was inevitable, and anyone saying differently is still lying to you.

Agree we should have never stayed at all. But then we would be accused by the beloved media of being heartless to the Afghanistan people. So we could have been heartless then or heartless now. What a waste of time, resources, and lives.

The pullout was totally mishandled and botched by an incompetent administration

We went over to Afgan. to get Bin for the 911 attacks, and to rid the country from being a big terriorst safe haven, and training camp.

Obama/Biden, got Bin in PAKISTAN, not Afganitan, mission accomplished, right? No. Obama/Biden continued the fight on for 4 more years, with heavy American losses. They could have gotten out at anytime.

So the Taliban gave safe haven to people who killed 3,000 Americans.

Let’s say we go in and chase Bin Laden to the caves in Tora Bora and then we actually kill him in December 2001 and immediately exit Afghanistan.

So then, in 2002, Mullah Omar immediately gives safe haven to another group that is looking to kill Americans.

Is that the plan?

Or if Bin Laden escapes Tora Bora, we immediately leave Afghanistan, and let him end his hiding in Pakistan, come back to Afghanistan and start planning more attacks on the US.

Is that a better plan?

It should have done it long ago, is something I agree with.

However it is a shamefully dishonest excuse for executing poorly on the withdrawal.

I mean even CNN is on Biden's case about this, nobody outside of party loyalists are going to buy that argument.

I call bullcrap on #2.

Major mistakes were made in the withdraw/pullout.

- Withdrawing the military before all civilian and embassy personnel were removed.

- Ceding control of the airport before all personnel were removed.

- Leaving behind 600,000 weapons, including planes, helicopters, humvees, guns and ammo, state of the art night vision and communication equipment. All of which has been turned over to China/Russia and/or being used against us.

JoeBama often says that when we got Bin Ladin in 2011, our mission was accomplished and we should have left. Not a single ‘journalist’ has asked - WHY didn’t we leave then, YOU and Obama were in charge?

Afghanistan has been about Politics and Optics for years. JoeBama didn’t leave in 2011 because they were up for Election in 2012. JoeBama set an arbitrary deadline of August 31, 2021 so he could make a big speech on September 11 about how HE left Afghanistan. It was all about OPTICS, not good Tactics.

The Tally-Bohn has a Fighting Season (summer, beginning June) and a Village Season (winter). JoeBama chose to bug out during the Fighting season and give the Tally-Bohn several months to organize there Battle.

By September 11, 2021 - JoeBama can give his big speech about the American Hostages he left behind in Afghanistan …. More likely, he will be hiding in his basement in Delaware.

Exactly. Unless the Taliban handed us the high ranking Al Qaeda leaders on a silver platter, there wasn't much different we could have done.

We gave that equipment to the Afghan government, and they abandoned them when they laid down arms. Saying they were just left behind by the US is dishonest.
