This changes nothing. Biden is doing the right thing by getting out of Afghanistan. The only mistake made is remaining there after the diplomats and embassy workers were taken out. The civilians living in Afghanistan had 18 months to buy a ticket and leave. No US soldier should die or get wounded trying to rescue them from their own failure to leave. As for the "translators" Trump failed to process any visas for them, so they are SOL. Sorry, bye-bye.

Yes, its going to be ugly for those left behind but for the life of me I don’t understand why anyone would visit family in Afghanistan.
The outlook was predicted last year, this year....and they both were intent on getting out...which for the most part American voters supported (both parties).
But most people did not know the details. They did not know how tens of thousands of Americans were still living in the country or that the paperwork for the Afghans who helped us were never completed. But Biden's white house did.
If we could have gotten all of that done before pulling the troops out this whole mess would not have happened. Sure the taliban would have quickly taken over the country but we would not have been in the middle of it.
Presidents for the last 40 years playing politics in the Middle East have blood on their hands.
This blood belongs to Biden. Again, the problem isn’t that we left, it is HOW our current president, over seven months in office and after delaying the original pullout date (so we know he can do it), decided to do after dismissing the advice he received from intelligence and military advisors.

You know who DID know those details, or at least was told them? Biden. This snafu belongs to Biden, whether he forgot the advice or ignored it.

And you know what -- that's part of the problem -- we know so little.
Biden gets blamed for equipment being left -- was it left or sold. Some administrations have boasted about their sales of weapons/military equipment around the world....is sit a good thing to arm the rest of the world.....what price do we pay.
Biden gets blamed for legitimizing the Taliban -- didn't Reagan start that trend selling them arms.

Ultimately Biden is President and has to lead through this. But let's not pretend this problem popped up in the last 8 months.
That's why the USA military was being so careful with its American citizens traveling to the airport. So many of you were angry with this administraqtion for not encouraging Americans to get to the airport.
Thank goodness they listened to the intelligence and the military.....
Not sure if many of you realize but late yesterday the USA military were telling all Americans NOT to come near the airport. They were proactive. Hopefully people listened.
"Proactive" would have been evacuating Americans before pulling out.
There is nothing "proactive" at all about this cluster****.
