The Trump Admin negotiated the withdrawal of troops with the Taliban in 2019-20. The US also agreed to facilitate the release of 5000 Taliban prisoners from Afghan prisons. On 2/29/ 2020, Pompeo and the Taliban leader signed the first of several agreements in Qatar. The Taliban was supposed to keep al- Qaeda out and the US was supposed to go home by 5/1/ 2021. These negotiations legitimized the Taliban.
Pompeo prefers to rewrite history and forget it was he on the stage with the Taliban and that the US reduced forces to 2500 in 2020. And the 5000 Taliban prisoners were released.
I am no fan of Biden but can acknowledge he inherited a no win situation. And that may have been intentional on the part of the outgoing admin. No matter what he/ his admin could do, it was going to be substantially criticized.
Maybe Biden should have torn up the agreement and like Trump, Obama and Bush before him, ordered more troops in.
Biden extended the deadline and things got shaky fast. The puppet president, parliament and 200 others political allies left the country in the middle of the night and the Taliban was in charge.
Pompeo is out there yammering about how we have to go back in and crush the Taliban, like someone handed him the 2001 script.
And who knows? It may come to that. Check back in 2041.

Why were you not making the same arguments in defense of Trump when things happened in his administration that he may or may not have known about? Can you provide a link to sane people who report that Biden admitted giving a list of people to kill, to the Taliban, of Americans and American Allies?
It’s not a “kill” list per se, but a list of US passport holder and allies that the administration gave so the Taliban can help these individuals to the airport safely. Obviously, it’s a risky move now that the Taliban have their identity, hence the kill list.
Just google kill list Biden and there’s articles from Politico, New York Post, the Hill, etc
