Well, the Democrats' actions for the last 7 months have given great impetus to the American people's desire to kick them out of most major offices in the next several years.
The U.S. has seldom been at a lower point than we are now. But the chances for improvement in the future are starting to look good.

Politically, we weren't at each other's throats back then as well. There was much more harmony amongst the parties.
If you keep head turned looking back - guaranteed you are going to crash! I tell this to some folks who keep lamenting the “old days “ and are contributing zero to our future.
The OP 100% agrees with you, the both of you share the same thoughts.
Glory days? What does that even mean? You get nostalgic about a time in your childhood whether it is in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc.
Sure styles always come back, but progress in technology and policy always move forward which becomes the next generations nostalgia. Then as older generations die out people will be looking back at 2021 as glory days. The future is bleak, we have it good still. Enjoy it while you can.
We are divided, polarized, equity means mediocrity, free speech is under attack, we are spending ourselves into oblivion, our allies distrust us, our enemies are salivating at our downward slide, we have weak leadership, our children are being brainwashed.
We are so distracted in so many different directions and everyone is butt-hurt offended with everything to the point that nothing has any real value anymore. Anything can mean anything which means everything is nothing.
Simply brilliant and sadly accurate. They are winning and we are losing. Bigger problem is so few people understand the context of “ them and we.”
