For those on the left who keep saying 'We needed to get out of Afghanistan, blah, blah....It's way bigger than that. It's HOW we got out that will have huge ongoing impacts. Epic fail.
You have no clue if it would have been better. You think or feeel but you don't know.
Given the timeline of 2020 and what had been solidified, nothing suggests Trump was better organized with regards to the withdrawal.
In fact Trump was all over the place --- wanting to pull out by November of 2020 (election), closing the Embassy, etc....
While ranting and raging about all that USA continued to send weapons/amunition to the Afghans, clearly indicating they had no anticipation that they anticipated the Afghans to abandon all that equipment .
True Biden did not plan for that contingency either....but there is nothing to suggest it would have been better with Trump in office.
We should really have planned this better when we the administration signed the peach deal with the taliban in Frebruary, 2020. Epic fail, indeed.
The minute a deadline was set, the USA should have created a solid, detailed strategy. There was none.....even as of January 1st and the May 1st deadline looming.
Maybe Trump thought maybe he would have time to develop a solid detailed plan if he won......but remember he wanted out by November firstly and there was no plan.
And true this administration should have had a detailed strategy with contingencies that considered that the Afghan army may not have been prepared to defend their country.
But I'm not convinced Trump and friends ever considered that scenario either. As late as June Trump was saying he would have left in May.....

Maybe they finally did something they will be paid back for!!!!
Im sick of how evil this country is to the world AND NOTHING IS EVER DONE!!
Terrible how we defend ourselves after attacks like 9/11, and how we donate so much food to Africa... We are so naughty
Anyways, Afghanistan pretty much belongs to the Taliban now. I'm sure nothing bad will ever happen there and it will be so much better from now on, am I right???
We gave billions of equipment to the Afghan military over the last two decades. With respect, what did you think pulling out of that country meant? The time to protest this was years ago before we started arming them.
No one could have done worse then biden......no one.
And it is unlikely anyone could have done any better. But we need to wait for the outcome. The US screwed up but on Biden's watch.
