They are being oppressed, but not really anything they can do about it.
It’s just another version of the bank account and credit card you already carry. Nothing aww inspiring about it.
Not saying really inspiring just showing how many years more advance they are compared to us. I am sure we will have the same with no credit cards in 20 years.
Main thing is the planning for better transportation, cleaner cities and much lower crime. And people are much more productive. And the amount of these are on the rise.

Their digital yuan isn’t necessarily more advanced. It’s just moving digits around. Being able to be cashless? I can basically do most everything without physical cash.
Chinese cities are built for show. Just go checkout all the ghost cities they build that sit empty.
More productive workers because there’s no OSHA and they’re easily replaceable.
Much lower crime because there’s a camera on every corner and you don’t have remotely the rights we have.
I’m not sure why some of you guys act like China is a great place. I dare you to move there if you really believe so and comment on the leaders there like you do here.
We have friends who lived in 3 different places due to work. The last was so bad they quit the well paying job to move back to the USA.
I know about the ghost towns. A relatives visited one, has great photos of a large city with a great skyline. It was vacant. Guess the Chinese plan ahead.
