Yes. You are not yet a contributing member of the tax base then you cannot vote since voting helps determine how tax money is spent.
Get out and make a living, and pay your taxes, then go right ahead and vote.

If you can't find almost all of the middle east countries on a map, don't know what simple monetary terms like deficients, Fed rates, and inflation mean, or can't recall at least 5 amendments in the bill of rights, you're too ignorant to vote and should be stripped of your privilege (not right) to participate in a democracy.

Thats the best idea Ive heard. I would bet that we would see a change in gov. spending if only the working, tax paying citizens were allowed to vote.

That is a interesting idea;but should the power of the vote depend on how much you contribute? Say a super delagte vote because of what you contribute ;kind of like the democratic primary system.

That's right, you shouldn't be able to vote. Until one is no longer a dependent voting should not be allowed.

That's an entirely different animal. I'm talking about national elections. The primaries are elections held by private parties and they can restrict who can and cannot vote on a number of factors - such as if you are a registered member of the party.

Why stop there? Let's raise it to 80! In fact, let's just let one old guy make all of our decisions. Worked for Cuba.

18 is a good, solid age. Yeah, there are some sponges in that age bracket, but there are sponges in all age brackets. All economic brackets, too, for that matter. Pick and age and go with it. This idea of age-based gerrymandering is best left in the fishing boat.

It should be restricted to white, land-owning males. Just like it was in 1789.

Wow this is such a great idea, NOT. Did you forget that most people this would apply to would be younger voters? So most of them aren't going to vote anyway. Besides that, you'd want less people to vote than there already are? If someone is in that situation you said and they are active enough in politics to actually go and vote then more power to them. Mainly there are plenty of people that meet your criteria and just don't vote anyway. Are you worried that politics are being swayed by young voters with their liberal and out there opinions? Well I think that is what we need if anything in politics is to stir the vote up a bit.

Wait for it... competency test for potential voters!

Age is an ambiguous method.
