They can "want" anything.

It's your choice whether or not you purchase whatever product or service is being offered.

Wealth disparity is a thing, but not every transaction between someone with money and someone without money is exploitative. As the consumer, you have the ultimate control over what price you pay for anything other than government fees.

Have you ever even tried to negotiate a rental rate? Ever found a manager at a store and asked for a discount on something that wasn't on sale? Everything is negotiable. Everything. You won't always get somewhere, but you can always try.

I disagree with your assertion that "the rich" "dictate" what we pay for anything.

Or they are so rich that they ignore the middle class and lower class. Throw a few bucks at them to fill all warm and fuzzy about themselves. The bucks doesn’t come from them, thanks to being so rich and tax write offs, just take more money out of paychecks of the hardworking middle class Americans.

In my area, it's mostly builders (corporations) that build housing for sale to individual owners.

The 'rich' don't dictate anything. The market dictates what you will pay for things. Producers only get to dictate to the extent that they have the market power to do so. Ever wonder why you can fly from New York to LA for $300 but it costs $800 to fly from New York to Harrisburg? Competition.

You don't need average Joes to be erecting 10 story apartment buildings. You just need enough corporate landlords erecting enough of them that they have to compete for tenants. Government's role ends at incentivizing that.

Nah, legalize it. I'd rather tax the **** out of it in exchange for a commensurate reduction in my property taxes. I mean, they love their taxes and government.

Full disclosure: Am a refugee from communism, an emigre to the US, a naturalized citizen, and a veteran.

Now, the one thing I noticed about the American Left is their sense of self righteousness. It is quite an innocent one, like that of a child ala AOC and her squad. It is the hardcore Left in the mold of Sanders that there lies a malice against the US. And yes, I do believe that Bernie Sanders, Noam Chomsky, et al. do have malice in their hearts when it comes to the US.

Anyway, these intra-states immigrants who came from Blue states WILL bring their politics with them. You can practically bet your next year's salary on that, and the Vegas bookies will be glad to take your money. They left the Blue states not because of they got tired of the morality and politics but because of money -- taxes. But once they are settled into your Red state, whatever it is, and regained their financial security, they WILL recall that sense of moral self righteousness that distinguished them from those they once deemed 'inferior', aka 'YOU'. They cannot help it. If they leave your politics alone, that would be a tacit admittance that they have been 'you' all this time, that they have been wrong, and they finally converted.

Good luck. You will need it, along with everything else your Red state can bring up to preserve your ways of life.

This poster gets it. Once they've got theirs, they will demand you do what they want, because:

1) they already got theirs, so what they want you to do doesn't affect them.

2) they can tell everyone how virtuous they are for voting that way, even though it never actually affects them.

3) they can accuse you of doing what they've done, to deepen their smug superiority, and self righteous beliefs about themselves.

But the most important thing to know about a liberal - above all else, they HATE being wrong.

Oh, the State will get their taxes from it but your Property taxes being reduced due to that is just fantasy I'm sure.

Of course. The state will find some useless thing to **** away the money on.
